Greetings All!

It's a dim memory, and I think I read this statement in "Heart of Yoga" by
T.K.V Desikachar... can anyone confirm this minute detail?

Thanks!
M.

Certainly helps to do sun salutation in the early morning facing the
rising sun.
Another practical reason is probably to align the body's
electro-magnetic field with the earth's field.

Is the earths field you are talking about in motion or stationary?

i think direction is important for a lot of things.
i only sleep well with my head to the north. i think this also has to do
with the earth's magnetic fields and aligning my body.
as i said in an earlier post, i find that i naturally orient myself to the
southwest (my desk, my favourite spot in the living room) and
have read that this means there is a natural power point in that
direction, so i re-oriented my yoga mat to the southwest. feels
better to me than previously facing east. could be a personal
orientation, or have to do with my location on the earth in relation
to a particular "power point" location.
interesting.
