|
|
|
| Greetings All,
My Hatha Yoga teacher stated one evening that the RIGHT nostril is HOT and
the LEFT is COLD. AND sometimes they switch off. Has anyone heard of this?
Please Advise!
Thanks!

| When performing alternate nostril breathing should i switch between
nostrils or do 12 on one nostril followed by 12 on the other?

the one that i was taught in kriya yoga was
to block the right nasal pasage with your
thumb and inhale through the left
then block off the left and exhale
out the right side
re-inhale in the right, block it and exhale
out the left
lather rinse repeat

the body regulates oxygen to various parts
of the body by switching the predominance
of air flow from the right to the left nostril
and back again about every twenty minutes.
the yoga practice of alternate nostril breathing
attempts to balance this back and forth
regulation by evening out the time that each
nostril predominates during its breathing
patternings.

I have learned many variations of this. The most common is to inhale
left exhale right inhale right exhale left.
I have seen this method taught at a variety of schools.
