| The standard four food groups are based on American agricultural
lobbies. Why do we have a milk group? Because we have a National Dairy
Council. Why do we have a meat group? Because we have an extremely
powerful meat lobby.
-Marion Nestle
If you step back and look at the data, the optimum amount of red meat
you eat should be zero.
-Dr.Walter Willet
Vegetarians have the best diet. They have the lowest rates of coronary
disease of any group in the country....Some people scoff at
vegetarians, but they have a fraction of our heart attack rate and
they have only 40 percent of our cancer rate. They outlive other men
by about six years now.
-Dr.William Castelli
Whether industralized societies...can cure themselves of thier meat
addictions may ultimately be a greater factor in world health than all
the docters, health insurance policies, and drugs put together.
-The China-Oxford-Cornell Project on Nutrition
I was raised on a dairy farm and ate plenty of meat and eggs until
about twenty years ago. I started doing nutritional research, and a
decade or so after that my family made some major dietary changes. I'm
just paying attention to what the data are telling me.The scientific
evidence came first.
-T. Colin Campbell
There is strong medical evidence that complete freedom from eating
animal flesh or cow's milk products is a gateway to optimal
nutritional health.
-Dr.Klaper
Would you like to go to pasture with a chicken, cut him up, then drop
him into a fresh manure pile, and eat him? That's what the product is
like coming from chicken plants today.
-Chicken Inspector
It used to be if a bird had a severe contamination, you condemned the
sucker. But nowadays my own supervising inspector says, There can be
no more bad birds on your tally. You've had to many.
-A seven year poultry inspector
Nothing will benefit human health and increase chances for survival of
life on Earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet.
-Albert Einstein
I have no doubt that it is a part of the destiny of the human race, in
its gradual improvement, to leave off eating animals.
-Henry David Thoreau
The beef industry has contributed to more American deaths than all the
wars of this century, all natural disasters, and all automobile
accidents combined. If beef is your idea of 'real food for real
people,' you'd better live real close to a real good hospital.
-Neal D. Barnard, M.D
I am not interested to know whether vivisection produces results that
are profitable to the human race or doesn't...The pain which it
inflicts upon unconsenting animals is the basis of my enmity toward
it, and it is to me sufficient justification of the enmity without
looking further.
-Mark Twain
We consume the carcasses of creatures of like appetites, passions and
organs with our own, and fill the slaughterhouses daily with screams
of pain and fear.
-Robert Louis Stevenson
You have just dined, and however scrupulously the slaughterhouse is
concealed in the graceful distance of miles, there is complicity.
-Ralph Waldo Emerson
No humane being, past the thoughtless age of boyhood, will wantonly
murder any creature which holds its life by the same tenure that he
does.
-Henry David Thoreau
If he be really and seriously seeking to live a good life, the first
thing from which he will abstain will always be the use of animal
food, because ...its use is simply immoral, as it involves the
performance of an act which is contrary to the moral feeling --
killing.
-Leo Tolstoy

Our vehicles 'run' much better when we take good care of them. They do
best without animal cadaevers rotting away in their intestinal tracts.
Pesticide ridden veggies are better, but not much. Both interfere with
the light. These bodies of ours wear out and are discarded, but we
never really die. Lots of people think that they are their vehicles -
they identify with that, when in fact they are eternal sparks of God
who are destined for much more beauty than they can imagine.

"The divine becomes a moment-to-moment experience.
That is in fact what it is. It is not a man with a
beard sitting up in the sky watching that you are
not stealing, lying, or cheating. It is inside you;
it is your sense of the divine inside that gradually
changes you from lying, cheating, and stealing to not
doing these things. Not because somebody is telling you
that it is bad, but because you instinctively know that
that is not the right way to live with your fellow
human beings." Benjamin Creme

Not all do; aside from which, part of what we come here to experience is
the different ways that physical bodies can flourish, and the effects on
physical bodies of different physical conditions. Whatever you're
eating now, you very probably ate very differently last time around, and
will probably eat very differently again next time out, and next. We're
here for the experience, not to make rules for each other and then
insist on having them followed (although that is certainly one of the
experiences we take in along the way).

No argument there. I can't prove it, but I believe that we come back
many times.
