Author I Need Help Reading an MRI Report

Hello guys. I've had an MRI done on my brain and I need some help with
figuring out part of the MRI report. To give you a brief idea about my
health, I suffer from chronic muscular problems, joint pain and chronic

headaches that are worst in the morning and get better as the day
progresses, have sleep problems problems, have difficulties speaking
sometimes, sinus problems, ringing in the ears occasionally, and most
importantly I'm always fatigued. My vision goes a little blurry at
times. My back has been diagnosed by a chiropractor with pinched nerves

and arthritis. When I went for the MRI, I had suspicions of Multiple
Sclerosis or anything that's neurologically similar. Well, they told me

that the MRI results came out ok, but there are a few parts of it that
I'm not so sure about. First one:

"There is no significant hyperintensity or hypointensity"

As far as I know, shouldn't there be no hyperintensity or hypointensity

at all if the brain's condition is perfect. Second one:

"There are small retention cysts in both maxillary sinuses"

What are those and do they explain my sinus problems.

I'd really appreciate someone helping me with this. Thank you.

hi dear i think you need not worry your report is normal
retention cysts in sinuses are a common incidental findings when brain
mri is done
there are written about because they are present
so be cool and calm

Thank you Dr. Nagpal,

You've assured me as far as the sinus cysts go. As far as the second
one I realize I missed a word. It says

"There is no significant abnormal hyperintensity or hypointensity"

The reason I don't like this one is because it's too wordy. So it's
abnormal but insignificant? what does that mean. I'd appreciate your
feedback on this one as well. Thanks a lot.

I don't think you have to be a physician for this one--I am not. The phrase
means: Nothing on the image appears to be abnormally dark or abnormally
dark. Straightforward doctorese English. You worry to much about minutia. It
seems you have some real problems that the MRI image has not helped
diagnose.

cool man its another way of writing a normal report
something isnt abnormal means its normal
sleep well ,take your medications
normal mri means you dont have serous problems but you still can have a
disease
like you have some problems take medication for them and god will help
you
your mri report is normal is a good sign

Thanks for your feedback. You're right. I have a lot of problems that I
plan on attempting to diagnose through several avenues. That is why I
am very skeptical.
