| Hi,
My friend was diagnosed with lung tumor based on CT-SCAN, but biopsy
result was negative. The test was done in Asia and I was able to get
electronic version of the films (processed in GE Medical System).
I'm seriouly seeking your professional advice in terms of where to get
a second opinion about those films?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

| A CT scan cannot diagnose a malignant tumor in and of itself- hence the need
for the biopsy. A mass seen on CT is usually described as being suspicious
for malignancy depending on it's size and shape. A biopsy is then needed to
confirm malignant versus benign processes. That being said, the biopsy is
only as good as the sample obtained for the pathologist. Perhaps a PET scan
may be of further help and give your friend piece of mind. A follow-up CT
scan will also show if the mass is increased or decreased in size.

From your nearest radiologist.
Of course you could put them on a website and we could all give opinions
on them, but thats up to you...

| In seeking an explanation why the biopsy was negative, I was told
because the tumor was on the surface of the bronchis, it cannot be
detected thru a microscopic procedure. My REAL question is that: how to
make sure it is outside the tube if there is ever any.
Thanks much,
Philip

Thanks.
What is the reasonable time for a follow-up CT-scan?
