Author Bladder retention and TUNA

About a year ago I had a TUNA procedure to solve the flow/frequency
problem. It was successful and all is working. The other problem,
both before the procedure was bladder retention. Somewhere in the
area of 400+ml. With this retention, I seem to have ongoing infections.
Antibiotics solve the problem for a while, then the bacteria reappear.
The Uro would like to another cycstoscopy to take a look inside, but
has suggested that TURP may be the next option.
My question is: will any procedure on the prostate help with the
retention problem ? I have no discomfort, problems, etc....just the
darn reoccuring infection.
Any/all comments would really be appreciated !
(I am 66, in otherwise good health, and still pee like a racehorse)
TIA
Zork
