I am now 7 weeks post PVP and find I am having difficulty with urgency and
frequency that I did not experience at 3 weeks post PVP. I have no
retention and the urologist has prescribed Detrol LA which has reduced but
hardly eliminated the symptoms. Is this normal? Will the problem go away
with the passage of time or will I need some intervention? Anyone with
similar or related experience please chime in now.

| Experienced similar post-PVP problems (as have others). It took a visit to
the accupuncturist and a good 3 months before approaching "normal." Don't be
misled by Laserscope's cheery recovery scenario. It doesn't apply to
everyone. Sounds like you are amongst the significant minority of PVP
patients who have to wait out these symptoms. Try a good accupuncturist in
the meantime. A couple of needles behind the knees can open up the energy
channel to the prostate-bladder-rectal synergy of nerves and accelerate the
healing process. Hang in there.

I had this symptom at about the same time post op.
Whenever I stood up, I had to go something awful. Didn't matter how
recently I'd voided. I was clearly able to link it to standing up.
I about panicked.
It lasted about 3 days then vanished. No other adverse symptoms.
I really had an easy recovery. 40 grams.

| How's your bloodwork? If your DHTs were, and remain, way above the normal
high and Estradiols up there, your Prostate may be still growing and you may
want to investigate with an endocrinologist instead of a Uro? (But, I'm not
a doctor!) Do this after all your acute potential causes have been
eliminated: Prostatitis, blockages, damage to urinary canal, damage to
bladder neck, etc. If all the physical stuff is OK, then you might want to
have the bloodwork redone and have an endo look at it. Good luck.
