Has anyone tried taking SawPalmetto as a juice extract? I have been taking
it as a tincture (in an alcohol base) and notice that the UK herbalist I buy
it from now has the juice in their catalogue.

You can buy it from Blackmores as a pill called Proseren which is in a high
enough concentration to be effective. I take 2 every morning unless I get
worse and then I take 1 or 2 of a night as well until it gets a bit better.

Saw Palmetto is supposed to be somewhat helpful as a DHT inhibitor, DHT is
what is surmised to cause the Prostate to grow and also causes hair loss.
So, it MIGHT have an effect on helping to slow hair loss? However, why
would you take that crap in the first place? Herbals are a non-regulated
industry. So, you MIGHT BE exposing yourself to toxic dangers...might be
taking something harmful mixed in with Saw Palmetto...maybe pesticides,
maybe lead contaminants, yikes! Go get a prescription, if you need this
shit. (In my non-medical opinion). Consider that some doctors use Procepia
to help manage hair loss symptoms. Best of luck to you.

Only those who don't know would say it's crap.

I do agree with you on the one condition that the Saw Palmetto purchased is
indeed a true dosage, hopefully from a reputable company. Under those
circumstances, it may not be "crap". My humble apologies for being too
judgemental.

It's OK. I find it helpful in the extreme. I have not taken any form of
antibiotic or other doctor prescribed medicine nor had any operation of any
kind. I have had this problem undiagnosed since the middle 80s then
diagnosed around end of 1998 I think it was. Tried Doxy and it helped
enormously the first time and to a lesser extent each following time so I
stopped taking it and found Proseren (Saw Palmetto) and have been on it ever
since with nothing else. I get bad relapses but I up the SP and it calms
down again so I can go back to normal doses for a bit.

The only thing that really bugs me out of all the things which are wrong
with me is the severe weakness and inability to get any form of Govt help
though I have to sleep afternoons.

Oh one newer thing that bugs me is I appear to be getting arthritic in the
shoulders and elbows though I cannot fathom why.

I am not a doctor...but here's my $0.02 worth:

If you think you are getting arthritis, have your doctor do a "sediment"
blood test. Likely your doctor will tell you something like, "You are not
getting any younger...it's probably arthritis" and then telling you to take
aspirin or prescribing an expensive NSAID such as VIOXX or CELEBREX.
Also, if you are SURE that it is arthritis, try reducing your Omega 6s and
increasing your Omega 3s, naturally, (through food, not through oil
capsules!). Finally, as unconventional as it sounds, some arthritis may be
rheumatism and MIGHT be cured by a dose of anti-biotics. But don't get your
hopes up. As soon as you tell your doctor to try a course of anti-biotics
for arthritis/rheumatism, he'll call you "nuts" and likely will not want to
treat that with anti-biotics. Most doctors don't. And your doctor only has
to do what most doctors do, nothing more. Best of luck to you!! P.S.: Do
your best to keep the joints moving and don't let them stiffen up on you!
