CV Disorders & Emergencies?
|

| Hello,
I want to understand that; whether lactic acid or acidosis can be a
cause of heart damage & CV diseases. Lactic acid(LA) is related to
anaerobic metabolism when sufficient O2 is not available. Pls tell me
the followings:-
1.Whether lactic acid or acidosis can damage cardiac muscles & change
normal ranges of cardiac? If yes, whether this condition will be a
permanent damage to heart or temporary/curable?
2. Can diabetic medicine "Metformin" & blood thinners as "Asprin" cause
this problem?
3.Are there some specific times during a day(day or night) or some
seasons, when people experiances more emergencies related to CVS?
4. Can we think that lactic acidosis/acidosis is related CV problems by
exertion or climbing up-stairs as LA increases by physical
exertion(mental exertion?)?
5. Is there any sesonal/daily cycle of acid/LA? I read somewhere(but
lost the link) that acid is stored stored during day time(I think in
epithelium) & releases at night for excretion in urine? IS it right?
Pls consider problems specific to day & night(Excess night urination,
cortisol levels etc) or to any season. PLs also think about various
Isoenzymes in this relation. It also looks logical because physical
activities increases during daytime & LA can be excess due to this
which can cause some problems. It looks that body system tries to
maintain lower LA level during day time due to possibility of adding
more LA by more physical activities. IS it so?
Best wishes.

| Why do you want to know? Lactic acidosis is a very rare problem.

It might be rare but just in the diabetic groups on usenet
and 1 chat room I have seen about 4 cases of it.

And rare doesn't mean never.
"only about 5% of thyroid nodules are malignant".

| Modern lifestyle & pollution may effect Oxygen levels which may result
more lactic acid. The condition can be some that; more LA but not yet
above normal ranges or more LA production in body on which body has to
work more to maintain it in normal range OR total body level of LA is
more whereas blood levels are normal. Anything can happen. It was noted
LDH levels were near to higher normal range in some people taking
metformin & eating some acid forming foods.

| Metformin is prescribed for diabetes. Commonly patients are not
previously informed about its possible lethel effects.??. Are there any
tests or indications which can tell in advance of taking metformin,
that it will not suit to some patients? I feel patients with hyper-
acidity, flushed face, hot (means hyper type) etc.may be the canditates.
It indicates that it produces acidic effects, but who are bit alkaline
can tollerate it, other acidic may not. Is it so?
A diabetic patient on insulin & metformin1000mg, taken many mangos &
some heavy foods on previous days got his cardiac enzymes elevated (LDH
near to higher normal level) CK & troponinI, (g) normal) elevated with
no abnormality in ECG, lipids some elevated, no hypertention, no undue
exertion on stress/walking, some circle is noted on 2D eco(not
confirmed as yet). Can it be thought it can be due to higher lactic
acid due to metformin & eating acidic foods?
Under modern lifestyle & environment, are we not becoming more
acidic(may be in LA type) than some alkaline previously?
