| A friend of mine has been sick for three days. He is a male in his
30's, and is usually very healthy. Two days ago he started having body
aches, was tired, couldn't sleep, and then he developed a fever.
Yesterday his fever was up to 102.3, even though he was taking advil
and motrin. By the end of yesterday his fever was wandering between 99
and 100.8. He threw up once yesterday morning, but has otherwise not
felt nausious. Last night the insomnia and body aches continued, and he
tossed all night. This morning he woke up with red bumps on his chest
and one side of his face. Some of the bumps on his chest break when
squeezed, and a clear liquied comes out. The bumps on his face are
more solid.
He feels better today, but still has some bady aches and weakness. He
does NOT have any of the following symptoms: cough, sore throat, runny
nose, headache, diarrhea.
Anyone know what he might have?

I suggest that you take him to the emergency room of the local hospital or
to the family doctor if the doctor can see him today. I suspect that he
has some sort of disease. A doctor can easily determine the problem. It's
hard for the people in this newsgroup to figure out what is wrong with him
without conducting an exam and some basic medical tests--such as a blood
test and urine test. Many doctors--esp. if they have lots of experience
can easily figure out what is wrong with him and give him the proper
treatment or medications.

An illness with a rash, body aches and a fever.
Why was he taking advil and motrin? These are the same drug. He may be
taking too much.
It sounds like he has a virus. He may have measles, influenza, chicken pox
or another virus.
He may also have shingles: http://www.medinfo.co.uk/conditions/shingles.htm
Without seeing examining him and getting a full history, we can't tell
exactly what is going on.
His doctor can.

Don't take him to the ER. That's the most expensive option and is not
a good place for someone who isn't a true emergency.
