| What would be the configuration of the facial muscles after death in a
person who has sustained anatomical changes from cosmetic surgery,
resulting in grotesque contortion when the face is in repose? If
surgery performed on normal anatomy resulted in the shortening of the
platysma in the vertical dimension, preventing closure of the mouth
and extension of the neck, would the facial expression after death
reflect the contorted appearance of the face in repose?
Please forgive the clumsy manner in which I have posed my question. I
would like to know if certain alterations in facial soft tissue
anatomy brought about by surgery would be apparent after death. If
relaxation of the face causes the jaw to pull back forcefully, due to
the application of tension in vectors which OPPOSE normal animation
and function, and the platysma/SMAS has been plicated in a manner that
causes contortion when the face is totally relaxed, will the
contortion be evident after death?
