| A friend of mine has been recently diagnosed with Motor Neurone
Disease. His muscles in his right arm are no longer able to lift
food/drink to his mouth. He was recently loaned a device which attached
to the diningroom chair arm and into which he strapped his arm. His are
was held in a half-circular tube, (bit like a rain gutter on a house!)
and then a series of springs counterbalanced a cantilever device
whereby slight movement of his arm was translated into quite large
movement enabling him to bring fork/spoon to mouth etc.
Unfortunately Social Services have taken the device back after 2 weeks,
just as he was getting used to it. It was apparently developed in USA
and costs in the region of =A31000 ($1600). So far I have searched the
web high and low to find another or even a picture of one which we
could purchase.
Does anybody have any information which might help me locate such a
device????
