1. What does this offer that sci.med.diseases.als does not offer?

2. No mention of -causes- of ALS.

>Inspire

To do what?

>Help Others

To do what?

>Share Knowledge

That's what I've been trying to do here. But who is interested?

>Chat

To what end? Is chatting its own purpose?

>Find some humour when you're feeling down

I have ALS and it does not make me feel down. ALS is -not- a
mental/emotional disorder. It is a -physical- disability.

>Find some common ground with others in similar
>circumstances

Do you mean a pity party? That would be worse than useless. I'm
interested in -practical- things, such as identifying the causes of ALS.

Jerry,

I can only assume you won't be signing up for the CdnPALS Forum to
share your opinion(s)... ;^)
Everyone is entitled to his/her opinions...and you are entitled to
yours.

I was diagnosed with ALS in July 02 and know (firsthand) that it is a
"physical" disability and not an emotional/mental one.
But what about the emotional/mental toll on PALS and the people
surrounding them?
For some people, having the ability to share their story can be very
therapeutic.
For others...reading about another's experience and knowing they aren't
alone is their therapy.
Some people like to get online, make friends, and Chat.
Having a bad day??? Sometimes a good laugh will turn your day around.
Just because CdnPALS.ca doesn't offer You ANYTHING useful, doesn't mean
others won't find something useful.

You give me the strong impression that "Finding a Cure" is your main
goal. And you know what???
That's cool...if that's your mission/passion in life and is the reason
you get outta bed in the morning.

The sci.med.diseases.als newsgroup is not the only source for
information on ALS on the internet.
To imply one source (of info) is worse than another and belittle it, is
simply absurd.
To criticize and pass judgement on someone's hard work(especially in a
public forum like this) without a possible solution to what you believe
is wrong with

the site ( I do have a Feedback/Comments page), leads me to believe
that ALS may not be the only thing that ails you.

it's open.
