Supervisors and Section Heads who "step down" and return to the bench to
work as a regular Medical Technologist. (When what they really want to do is
step down and return to the ONE bench with out all the paperwork.)
This is particularly annoying to the one- maybe two generalist who work in
all departments of small to moderate size labs. Who tend to get schleped
around a lot to cover 'holes'----because no one else is as cross trained and
can cover that bench right now---until the usual tech gets back from
whatever impromptu meeting, nature call, extended lunch break with sales
rep, alien abduction, paperwork needs is completed.

Is it really that hard to work / learn one more bench? Especially in the
core lab where everything is so heavily automated?
