Author Elecsys E170 fails to detect low serum folate levels ?

In our laboratory, the Elecsys serum folate assay is in routine since
a few months. However, almost all patients have normal values. The
cutoff is set at 2 ng/ml.

In the past, we used to see low serum folate levels every day. (with
Simul Trac SNB RIA)

Even if the cutoff is set at 2.5 ng/ml or even higher, we have the
impression that we find no deficiencies anymore. In our country, no
folate is added to the flour.

My impression is that the Elecsys fails to detect low folate
concentrations.

Any of you have the same experience?
