Author Wanted: Digital PDP-12 Computer - Reward Offered

Hello! I'm looking for an old Digital Equipment computer, a PDP-12, to
purchase for a restoration project. Because they're getting harder to
find, I'm also offering a small finder's fee to anyone who can help me
locate one.

The PDP-12s were built as laboratory instruments back in the late 1960s;
they usually come in a cabinet about 6 feet tall, have one or two
clunky-looking old-style magnetic tape drives on the front, and have an
operator's console with several dozen impressive-looking lights and rocker
switches on them. A picture of one can be seen at:

I'm hoping to find one that's in reasonably-restorable shape, and if by
chance there's software and/or documentation and/or an ASR33 Teletype with
it as well those would all be great bonuses. It'll have a good home, it
will get use, and there's a restored DEC PDP-8/I here to keep it company.
Visitation rights can certainly be arranged. Price is negotiable,
depending on condition. If it has to be shipped I'll be happy to arrange
and pay for that as well.

....1960s-vintage machines are getting harder to find, of course, since so
many have been scrapped over the years, so in hopes of finding _this_ one
to restore I'm willing to ask for help. I'll give a $100 reward to
whoever introduces me to the PDP-12 I end up buying, as a small reward for
lending me your eyes to help look for it. It's an unusual offer, and I
certainly can't afford to make a habit of it, but on this occasion I'm
willing. If you know of a PDP-12 that's available for a reasonable price,
please e-mail me and we'll take it from there.

(That's not a bad finder's fee for a computer, especially one with a
slower CPU and less memory than an Apple II. <g> )

ohh@drizzle.com It seems like there ought to be _one_ lying around
in a hospital basement, or some neurologist's garage,
just waiting for a chance to be run again.
