Author getting shorted on prescription refills

The policy at the pharmacy I use and at another one I checked is that if
they're low on something, they short you, don't document it, and just
ask you to come back in a week for the rest--if that is, they bother to
tell you. This just happened to me for the second time with my fosamax
prescription, which is for a two-month's supply. I didn't notice I'd
been shorted until I opened the bag at home.

When I called the pharmacy to complain and asked why they didn't just
give me half, charge me the copay for half, and let me pick up and pay
for the other half later, I was told that they only bill the insurance
company once. I think what's probably happening is that the computer
program for filing a claim with the insurance company doesn't allow them
to fill half a prescription.

I can see no excuse, however, for their not giving me something in
writing that says I've paid for a month's supply that I've not received.
They tell me they usually try to scribble something on the bag.

Is this happening elsewhere?

Let them know you are a customer and you will take your business
elsewhere. And tell everyone you know. You can fax your prescriptions
to legal internet sites.
Or use KMART, Publix, etc.
