| Does the family have to be tested if a member contacts Hep C ?
My sister thinks she has it.
Thanks for help.
Lizzy.

Generally, unless there was the possibility of blood-to-blood contact, no.
I'd say get the sister tested first and worry about other possibilities later.
Cheers - and good luck...

| Liz,
If you have any more support type questions, swing on over to
alt.support.hepatitis-c newsgroup. There is generally more information and
personal ancedotes in that group. It is unmoderated and has the usual
number of hacks and flacks, but otherwise, the people in that group are
mostly all concerned with living with and recovering from Hep C.
hope this helps

Whoa! I thought this IS alt.support.hepatitis-c (!)-- don't know how
the browser-Google got me here today. Strange posts here,
comparatively, imo...
About testing of *family* members:. After I was diagnosed, girlfriend
and son got tested. GF got tested simply because she was nervous. Son
got tested because toothbrush sharing is on a short list of risk
factors. Both tested negative and left me to my own business of dragon
slaying, as well it should be.
