Tested Positive for Hep-C Antibody What's Next?
|
|
|
| In about 1994 I tested positve for HVC antibody but negative for antigens.
From about 1994 'til 2000 I was monitored by the GI dept of a prestigious
university for Hep-C antigens and whatever else they checked for but was
always negative. Recently my internist checked for HVC antibody which was
+ but for nothing else. What is the testing procedure for somebody who is
HVC antibody +?
Thanks,
LFT

If we're all using the same terminology, the "antigen" tests were for HCV
virions, the logical follow-up to a positive HCV antibody test.
If you've been frequently tested for HCV antigens since 1994 and never shown
positive for active HCV infection, unless you have some reason to believe you
are now actively infected, I'd say count yourself extremely lucky, and go find
something else to worry about :-)

Hey, we would all love to get that, but once you are positive, then you are
positive for life. Even those who have put all those efforts to be "cured".

Just another nitpicky point, but you should have said that one is positive
for hcv antibodies for life.
When treatment is successful, the virus is not detectable and I call that
cured.
The C word isn't used in the medical profession (well, not often) because
standard hcv treatment does not work for everyone; it's a bit of a gamble.
On that note, Happy New Year to you, Alan!

Hey, lots of things are a gamble, but talking to women who are looking for a new
husband is too much of a gamble, so I might have to put you in my killfile ;-)

I'm dancing the Firebird Strutt as that "Impeach Blair" story goes round the

LMAO. I was rushing around when I read this:
> but first I gotta do sumptin with this latest husban a mine...
Looks like you escape my kill-file ;-) This calls for the song of the day:
We'll be fighting in the streets
With our children at our feet
And the morals that they worship will be gone
And the men who spurred us on
Sit in judgement of all wrong
They decide and the shotgun sings the song
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
The change, it had to come
We knew it all along
We were liberated from the fold, that's all
And the world looks just the same
And history ain't changed
'Cause the banners, they are flown in the next war
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
No, no!
I'll move myself and my family aside
If we happen to be left half alive
I'll get all my papers and smile at the sky
Though I know that the hypnotized never lie
Do ya
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
There's nothing in the streets
Looks any different to me
And the slogans are replaced, by-the-bye
And the parting on the left
Is now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight
I'll tip my hat to the new constitution
Take a bow for the new revolution
Smile and grin at the change all around
Pick up my guitar and play
Just like yesterday
Then I'll get on my knees and pray
We don't get fooled again
Don't get fooled again
No, no!
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Meet the new boss
Same as the old boss
Hey, I just have to do it again:
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!
Happy New Year again.
