Author hepatitis A causing cirrhosis?

Hi,

Are there any medical researches on the possibility that hepatitis A
in rare cases also causes cirrhosis?

A relative of mine has cirrhosis, and the doctors didn't find any of
the hepatitis viruses in his body. He also doesn't drink alcohol.
He had a bad case of HAV years ago, which even caused him to be
hospitalized, but he recovered fully from it, or at least it seemed
that way. Is there any chance that his desease was caused by HAV?

Any info on the subject, including cases you know of, researches etc.
will be appreciated.

Elad.
