| sorry if i don't sound too coherent, you'll see why. i've been taking milk
thistle for about 2 weeks, i must say its effective beyond my
imagination...al the symptoms prompted me to start taking milk thistle
from our right liver pain to related digestive problems have been improved
notably. but then i've been feeling very dizzy all day, and i believe it
is cause by milk thistle.
i don't really have an herbalist, is it documented somewhere that milk
thistle can cause this side effect? some opinions, please.

| I don't know what symptoms prompted you to take it, it's probably OK to take
occasionally, but I strongly believe that any supplement can be dangerous if
taken long term without supervision of very qualified practitioner. I
almost burned holes in my esophagus and stomach with apparently harmless
supplements to treat some general digestive sluginess and lack of energy. I
tried vitamins, plant enzymes, milk thistle, ginseng, ginko and a few
others.
Long term nothing seems to work as well and be as safe as dietary and
lifestyle changes.
Again, I am not a professional, but I strongly feel we are being duped by a
lot of false advertisment and anecdotal claims from people who are not true
professionals either. There is basically no research into long term effects
of herbal supplements and even medications for that matter. They all seem to
be at best suited to treat an acute condition, but for long term use, you
are playing with your health.
Moreover. most studies are done on healthy individuals and do not take into
account other conditions that can create problems. Everybody these days
seems to ignore the old saying ' there are no diseases, only patients'
(losely translated from different language). That is why it's so important
to be under guidance of an MD.
