Tonight's the night for the Perseids, but tomorrow morning offers best
viewing at approx. 2-3 a.m.

Wow, you're really up there. That's so far up that we can't even pay
attention to the same weather forecasts. You guys get snow when it's
40 degrees down here.

Riiiight- global warming. We've only had a couple of good storms
this year.
I've noticed the weirdest things this summer, and it's not because
it's too warm. Yesterday I found Bittersweet that was ready to cut -
now that's unheard of in the early part of August.
Thanks for the sky pic. There's a link to a night cam on the page
too.

Jen, I'm always interested in watching a meteor shower. You say 2-3
a.m., which time zone. Thanks.

Well, my time zone is Central Daylight time. The reason the best
viewing is in the early morning hours is because it's the time that
the Earth will be headed INTO the shower as opposed to being turned to
the backside of it. It should apply to any North American time zone as
long as it's in the wee hours before daylight, if that makes sense.
(It does to me, but I can't quite make it plain in writing...Doh!)

I understand. That's why we have time zones, sorry for my lack of
thinking before asking. Thanks I need to laugh at myself every once in
a while (it keeps me humble).

You must not live too far north of us - we're near Muncie. I don't go
farther north than Ft. Wayne- people start noticing my accent when I
get up that way.

It was a little overcast around midnight, but was clear around 2:30.
Wasn't quite the show I'd hoped for, but I did get to see some, so no
complaints.
BTW- What the hell is with this weather?! It's August - we should
be sweating like nobody's business, but I don't think it even made 70
today!

It's such a wet and rainy August here that parts of Wales are flooded.

It's "global warming" yaknow :-)

I'm in South Bend. We have had clouds most of the past 3 days. Some
rain but not a lot. Today was the coldest high between mid June and
early September in history. Personally I have enjoyed the cooler
summer this year. 85º+ is too hot for me. Especially with the
humidity.
