O.K., I'll bite.I'm not at all sure I know the difference between a support
group and a science/medicine group. Aren't all answers to questions about
this scourge a kind of support. As an example, I have had HCV for over 30
years, and it seems that only in the last 2 years I suffer from extrahepatic
symptoms. By this I mean specifically on my left leg, between knee and
ankle, there is a large raised band of tissue/rash that is extremely itchy
and irritating. I went to see a Dr. Tice, who is an infectious disease
specialist. He says this is extrahepatic symptom, caused by the liver. It is
ugly and sooo itchy, it is impossible to not scratch. Especially evenings,
or when I'm emotionally upset, it gets very itchy. When scratched, it
bleeds, then I have open wounds on my left leg. I have an appt. to see a
dermatologist, in April. What I'm concerned about is that if it becomes
infected, such as in staph, there is no resistance to the infection. This is
because of the Pegintron, and Ribavirin weakens the immune system. My doctor
just says put lotion on it 2 or 3 times a day. I do this all the time, but
it does no good at all. I do not want to suffer amputation of the left leg,
as the XXXXing doctor said could become necessary if infection sets it.Any
ideas?
John (Vaginal Cloning Experiments?)If successful, can I "borrow" 1 or 2
please?Preferably non-infected.

Dear Red
I hope you leg getts better. I was very itchy in the past I took
lorazapam, sister drug to valium and it got rid of my hives.
I was lucky on the tx as i never had any itchy ness from the Riba. Once
again good luck at the dr. And why arent they giving you some antibotics
for this. More wacked dr. From VA no doubt. Wishing you the best of luck

That's what they do there. Just give you more pills. I have more pills than
Carter has liver pills. As for the antibiotic, if the leg ends up infected,
I'm sure they will ;prescribe antibiotics. Thanx Loretta.
