California Nurses Assn. and California Nurses:

Well, you did it. Governor Boobengrabber and his list of abuses
directed toward Nurses, Teachers, Firefighters and Police and all
Union Members was for naught. He wasted Million$ on his special
election, Million$ California dosn't have. You defeated him, and
it was mostly Nurses who did it.

Now, throw him out of office, and let him go back to Steroid Munching,
while sitting on his very own ski slope in Sun Valley.

Why is it that it's OK to post political stuff on a nursing newsgroup, but
you reward attempts at discussion with hate mail ?

Because, the Gov. was AFTER NURSES, and they won. I don't recall
posting hate mail. I've posted plenty of times regarding the idiots who
cross post, as have others in this news group. If you don't like what
I post, simply use your killfile. It's easy. Ask your supervisor.

I am not all that versed on the subject, but I saw nothing to
indicate he was going after nurses per se. He was going against
mandatory union dues being siphoned off for political contributions
instead of what they are supposed to be used for (which BTW is also
a major contention of the Unions that pulled away from the ALF-CIO
last summer).
The one that shoulda past was the one taking the stablishment
of political districts away from the politicians. THAT is one that
should be done nationwide so you don't get gerrymandering every 10
years by whoever happens to win the election before.

The same thing happened in Ohio with that issue. People here are so
afraid of change, it was voted down by the few people who bothered to
vote on Tuesday. Have to wonder how many actually read the Issue,
rather than simply reacting to the most caustic campaign ad.

So the email I received from wc [wc@worldnet.att.net] which said:
"Take this to heart: I would not piss on you if you were on fire.

Once every thousand years, something decent comes out of Britain. You ain't
it. I rank you right up there with George W. Bush.

Will"

wasn't you then ?

Yes indeed it was me. Why did I write it?
In response to the destruction of a Newgroup with inane writings and
crosspostings. Yes, I wrote it and stand by every word.

BWAHAHAHAHA !!!! If I'd had gotten such an email, I don't know that I'd
reproduce it here for the entire world to see. OTOH, you have to appreciate an
articulate man.

If I'm lucky, I see 6-10 messages a week in this newsgroup. All the rest got
nuked in my kill file... they earned a spot there by being written by cross
posters or by people who aren't nurses. When I want to correspond with
non-nurses, I post in non-nursing groups. Their crossposted shit isn't welcome
here.

90% of the crap posted here doesn't belong. Do you think that has improved the
group?

And your point is? ;)

I can't speak for Will....but what I thought he was saying wasn't
necessarily that the specific initiatives pushed by Schwarzenegger were
going after nurses. Almost since taking office, Schwarzenegger has
tried to undermine California law and regulations on nurse staffing; he
has dismissed nurses' objections to these actions as simply coming from
a "special interest," and he commented about a group of protesting
nurses that he had "kicked their butts."

The vote on these initiatives was generally seen as not just being
about the content of the specific proposals, but a kind of referendum
on the Gov. and his record. And with the defeat of these proposals, his
political fate is almost definitely sealed.

CNA's opposition to the Governor wasn't the only factor in defeating
the initiatives, but they've made themselves a very public thorn in his
side--so they surely deserve some of the credit.

I think it's fair to say that the drivel remains constant.
If there was a decent amount of traffic in the first place the rubbish
wouldn't be noticed.
Rather than taking issue with the rubbish, why don't we all make an effort
to post worthwhile stuff instead and revive the group instead ?

Of course they are. Just like the other side of the coin was
coming from an special interest group made up of Hospital
administrators. I don't know why we have made "special interest" a
perjorative (on all sides of the aisle).
Although the KtB bit was out of line.

Yep. And the Dems in California and NY state, etc., etc, etc.
I believe I said taking it away from POLITICIANS, the generic. Both
sides basically pass an Incumbent-of-the-party-in- power Protection
Act every 10 years.
