Amanitman, you are living dangerously if the antedotal reports of some
are to be taken seriously. Let me elaborate. I have talked to many
people who have taken moderate or better doses of Amanita muscaria
only to have a very bad experience. Everything started out OK and the
trips or visioning sessions were cruising along, then in a matter of
minutes everything came crashing down and the individuals felt like
they fell into a terrible black hole of pain. The catalyst on each of
these occasions seemed to be the addition of beer to their evening.
One individual literally blacked out and rolled around on the ground
in the dirt weeds and briars for a couple of hours, causing major
bodily aberrations, bruises, bleeding, and harm. This was several
hours into an otherwise wonderful Amanita experience and 5 minutes
after he began drinking a beer.
I am not saying that everybody will have such a reaction, but be
forewarned that this is not an experiment I would wish on anybody on
this list, should it turn south.
There is scientific data that leads credence to this theory, if I can
call it that, although it is not a theory to those unwitting people I
mentioned above. Ibotenic acid is one of the chemical constituents of
a fresh Amanita muscaria specimen. Upon drying, this ibotenic acid
converts to muscimol. Muscimol is the ingredient sought after by
those who ingest the Amanita muscaria for meditative, spiritual, and
recreational purposes. The only difference between 1 ibotenic acid
and 1 muscimol is 1 CO2 molecule. The ibotenic acid looses the 1 CO2
when it converts to muscimol.
Carbonated beverages are pumped all full of CO2. After drinking a
carbonated beverage the CO2 it contains is released into your system.
I have read warnings from many health sources warning about I believe
the calcium carbonate buildup in the body and of these beverages being
harmful to the human organism in and of itself. I recommend everybody
limit or eliminate all carbonated beverage consumption as a matter of
general health. Quit drinking treated city water for that matter.
Aside from all the chemicals added to it, it has a negative
fingerprint left on it from the chemicals removed and lacks the proper
polarization for optimal performance of living organisms.
If muscimol is exposed to CO2 under the right conditions while being
processed in the human body will it pick the CO2 back up? It is easy
to see the possible connection to sickness and acute toxicity if it
happens to pick the CO2 back up and reconvert itself back into
ibotenic acid.
One other possible relevant antedotal story. The company who
initially got me started selling alternative herbs several years ago
was the major nationwide supplier of ethnobotanicals, Mazetec Gardens
in Houston. One of the owners asked me "why anybody would want to eat
Amanita muscaria, its poison", after I asked him why he did not sell
it. From my understanding, this person was a regular drinker, beer
drinker at that. It is very possible that he was poisoning himself by
mixing Amanita with beer, but I have not confirmed the connection,
just a hunch based on the evidence at hand.
Sincerely
Vince
