Yes. TWO MORE DXM DEATHS. Curious they mention "But when you mix a large
amount of Dex with alcohol or marijuana it can cause sudden death." Pure DXM
powder alone can easily be fatal by itself. Were they also drinking, or
smoking pot?

Teen's Parents Say He Died From A Stupid Mistake

June 23, 2005

By Leslie Knopp

BELLINGHAM - Parents of a Bellingham student say his death was a stupid
mistake.

"This was not an act of vengeance, it was not an act of desperation or
anything else," said Dennis Morgan, "it was just stupidity."

That's the only way he can explain why his son died.

Ryan Morgan was 17 and his friend Cory Carlson was 19. On April 23, they
were hanging out together at Ryan's Bellingham home.

Ryan's parents, Dennis and Stephanie, found the young men dead the next
morning.

Dextromethorphan killed the boys. It's known as Dex, and a small amount of
it is found in cold medicine. But when you mix a large amount of Dex with
alcohol or marijuana it can cause sudden death.

Doctors say teens are taking it because they get a "high" with mild
hallucinations.

Cory and Ryan bought a concentrated form of Dex from an Indiana company,
Chemical API, over the Internet.

"I'm declaring all out war on Chemical API and anyone else who sells this
crap on the Internet," said Dennis.

"Our investigation of the deaths in Bellingham revealed that other young
people in the Bellingham area have been using the drug quite commonly,"
explained Whatcom County Sheriff Bill Elfo.

In Whatcom County four kids have overdosed on Dex recently, and three --
including Cory and Ryan -- have died.

The Sheriff said kids think it's safe because it's used in cold medicine.
Dex is not safe, it is deadly.

"Parents (need to) push back and don't let them get away with it," urged
Dennis. "It's better that they hate you the rest of their life rather than
have to go through what we went through."

The U.S. Attorney's office is deciding whether to file charges against the
owners of the Indiana company that sold Ryan and Cory Dex.

Ryan's parents are sharing their grief because they worry that kids still
think Dex is safe, and that other parents don't even know what it is.

Man, the global media really sux, it means that everyone hears the bad
news. Who cares, its 2 deaths, how many people die from alcohol
poisoning every day? But because its sensationalized and nationalized
everyone goes up in arms. XXXX that. At this rate everything will be
illegal at some point, all it takes is one kid.

Waaa-waaa, the Big Bad Drug Dealer killed my son, make him suffer for
it. XXXXing grown-up teenagers. People think just because they're
over 40 and pay taxes and go to church that they're entitled to their
emotional "opinions". What a dickface.

I am sick to high heaven of this shit in the media. Nobody made them take the
DXM except themselves. There's info out there regarding *ALL* drugs and their
safer usage. If they died, stiff shit; it's their fault. Whatever happened to
being 'responsible for your own actions' like my Father taught me ... <shakes
head> XXXXing kids.

For every drug I've taken, I've researched it as extensively as I could
*before* taking it so I properly understood what it was and what it's effects
were. But oh no, these damn kids just think, "I wanna get 'high' and be cool
'cause it sounds like fun" and die because of their naivety. Sheesh!

This is what happens in a society running under general prohibition and
denial. If the exploration of consciousness was supported instead of being
feared, and these kids had responsible guides instead of their equally
clueless peers, this shit wouldn't happen. Not to mention that if the safer
drugs were legal they wouldn't be XXXXing around with drugs that can kill
them in the first place.

Greetings Spork

How very true. I actually tried to do something about this. I tried to go to
schools and teach kids *about* drugs instead of the usual "Drugs are bad, don't
do drugs" spiel. I had information about the negative and positive effects, the
social aspects, peer-group pressure, what the drugs consist of, possible reasons
people try or take them and other alternatives, etc. and the schools didn't want
to know. I believe that if you speak to kids in an intelligent manner with
feedback from them you will get much further than just dominating them due to
them feeling their views/thoughts are actually considered/listened to. Sad
state of affairs but something that will take a long time to change

Little story for you ( and others at home ). I suffered from depression for
about two years and had a sort of nervous breakdown because of this. I tried
ecstacy after much research and found that it changed me for the better. I now
have a genuine love for people I never had before and love who I am in this
world. The world is so much more beautiful and I appreciate life. I am just so
much more accepting of *everything*. LSD had the same 'better outlook on life'
effect on me as well. Being a psychonaut is, IMHO, something that every person
should engage in. People have lost being true to themselves, instead being true
to what they think everyone else wants them to be. So sad it almost brings a
tear to the eye.

I totally agree. In many books about drugs, even, there are strange
superstitions about hallucinogens leading to unsocial behavior,
isolation, obsession, and other nonsensical psychological attributes.
LSD would even cause people to "drop out of school" and "lose their
job" because "they think they can read minds". I declare war on such
'security through obscurity and lies' doctrines - not because they are
not only false but also because it does exactly the opposite of what it
is supposed to do; criminalise drugs, drug culture, and try to
brainwash people into believing taking drugs is inhuman and inherently
dangerous. The human race has been taking drugs and takes drugs every
day - it's a goddamn miracle that people cannot seem to realise it is
impossible to illegalise a part of human behaviour.

Cheers, and let the revolution begin I say.

That's how we lost Ephedra. 155 people abused it and died....so the FDA
said 'Were banning this for your own good....'

Viagra and Cialis give you a hard on without getting you high....tobacco
gets you hooked without getting you high.....and alcahol and tobacco and
caffiene are so cemented in out lives they will be legit regardlss of
how many they kill.

Leary actually did a diservice but going public about LSD. Now it's
illegal for scientists to experiment with it....but any kid with $5 can
XXXX with it thru the black market.

Have a little compassion....most people don't behave rationally at the
best of times, very few behave rationally when their kid has just
died....

I have no more compassion for that retarded "parent" (who obviously
failed to impart common sense to his son) than I would for any piece
of shit who compulsively blames anyone they can other than themselves
for their problems. His son is the one who made the decision to get
high on a risky substance, and it's his son who will always be
responsible for making that decision, period. My right to make the
same decision is more important than some crybaby blowhard's right to
finger point. I'm shedding the world's smallest tear for his XXXXX
XXX.

You know, it's often quite hard to get to know what someone's really
like through a low bandwidth medium like this. Just occasionally, it's
not. You come through loud and clear.

You're damn right I do. And so do you. You're a bourgeois coward,
apologizing for some redneck maniac's stupidity. You whine and XXXXX
about my having a problem with his God damn XXX declaring war on a
company I've patronized and gotten good service from.

Grow a dick, and pull your head out of your XXX, pussy.
