Where'd you read that? Alcohol is a sedative-hypnotic.

The reports I've heard (admittedly haphazard, and because of these reports
I have avoided alcohol during any trip) all confirm what one would expect,
given that alcohol is a downer. It brings you down, back to reality. It
may be unsafe as well. The traditional tranquilizers to use to bring people
down have been major tranquilizers, but I'd bet benzodiazepenes and
alcohol are just as effective. But perhpas those aren't considered as
safe in those circumstances. Or perhaps they look at psychedelics as
psychotomimetic, so they use anti-psychotics.
