I think it depends on how much. I don't think taking a normal (=
therapeutic) dose of (pseudo)ephedrine or any other stimulant along
with DXM is dangerous per se. What would be dangerous for instance is
taking a *whole* bottle of DXM syrup + a *whole* bottle of an
pseudo-ephedrine-based syrup.
The FAQs say "never combine etc." because they can't really go into
detail and people are best warned against overdoing it. But I suspect
many fake extasy pills on the market may be a subtle mixture of DXM
and some amphetamine. You can tell they're not Xtasy because they peak
after only 2-3 hours, but they're not pure DXM either because they
produce some stimulation.
