THE TRUE STORY OF "CRUISE A FICTION"

Hello fellow Entheonaughts.

I am often asked me if somebody should have a sitter present
to use salvia divinorum. To impress the importance of having
a sitter, I felt inspired to record a story of what happened
when initiating a friend to the world of Salvia Space. I
asked my friend if he cared if I posted the story online. He
indicated that he did not care so long as his real name is
not used. For the purpose of this report, I will refer to him
as Cruise A. Fiction.

Cruise has been a very close and solemn friend of mine for 7
years. The environmental, spiritual, and religious topics we
have delved into and the depth and gravity of our common
experiences over the years would be totally incomprehensible to
many peoples common understandings and perceptions. We sort of
feel a kindred spirit thing between us and know that it is no
accident that we have crossed paths in life. He is a very devout
Christian who does not follow the beaten "religious" path, just
as I do not. I guess it would be accurate to say that we are
both spiritual contemplatives as opposed to being religious
actives.

I had just called Cruise the day before, on Christmas Eve, after
not having talked to him in 4 or 5 months. A strange thing he
relayed to me days later was that his horoscope for that day said
an old friend would contact him and this would result in a
profound event in his life. Not that I am deep into the mass
media astrology quips, cause I am not, just a strange
coincidence with what ensued.

Cruise came over on Christmas Day and I guess we talked for a few
hours about this Shamanic and herbal bent my life has taken, my
Spirit guided decision to purposefully and dynamically "out myself",
in this regard, as I have done over the last couple of years. He
specifically could not understand why I was relating herb use to
spirituality, as his view was that these actions were either
indifferent or detrimental to ones walk with Christ. Within a matter
of hours (after a visioning session) he said he fully understood
what I could not explain to him with words a few hours prior,
regarding the mystical essence of this plant.. He was also quite
skeptical that this plant, Salvia Divinorum, that he had never
heard of (Cruise is a master organic gardener and herbalist like
myself, and prides himself in his plant knowledge) could produce
such profound effects. Also know that Cruise is very experienced
with magic mushrooms, once having spent 6 weeks straight on them
while totally immersed in a serious Dungeons and Dragons game.
That statement does not do full justice to his experience, but
gives you an idea that "tripping" was something that was once
common place for him. He later acknowledged that none of his 100's
of previous experiences with psychoactive compounds could have
prepared him for what was to occur that day.

I had Cruise read the entire user guide,
http://sagewisdom.org/usersguide.html , cover to cover to
prepared him the best I could for what was to come. I put about
1/4 of a gram of some good 5X Salvia Divinorum Extract Enhanced
Leaf into a smoking pipe, set the mood, and then we began. We
were in my living room with Cruise sitting up in one of my big
dish type double papasan chairs. He held the first dose/hit to
a count of 25 seconds, exhaled it and took a second hit. It did
not look to me like there was anything left in the bowl, so I
took it from him and proceeded to put another pinch in. This was
just in case he gave me dumb "I'm waiting" looks in a minute,
then I could then have him take one more hit. What ensued over
the next 6 or 7 minutes was a scary and totally mind blowing
experience, not just for Cruise, but for me as well.

Cruise never made it to the 3rd hit. When I told him to take the
pipe back, after I added the pinch, he put his hands to his mouth
without the pipe. I said, "no here", and put it in Cruise's hand.
He then put it to his lips and started sucking without attempting
to light it. Realizing that he was loosing common awareness I said,
"you have had enough, lay back and close your eyes", and I took
the pipe from him. This was maybe 30 seconds after his 2nd hit.
Cruise stirred a little and rolled his head from side to side.
Within 30 seconds of taking the bowl from him he flew straight to
level 6 (see user guide for an explanation of the levels), the
amnesiac level. I know this because I had to relate to him later
the totally profound happenings that occurred while he was there.
While taking his 2 hits, Cruise was sitting in a relaxed bent
leg position and when he sat back had his hands resting in his
lap. Without warning and in the matter of a split second Cruise's
body snapped or locked or flung itself into a very discernible
and totally unexpected position. His legs flew straight out in
front of him and because the coffee table was in the way they
instantaneously flew on top of it. This occurred with such force
that he almost broke the glass inserts in the table top, not to
mention missing his bottle of beer by a fraction of an inch with
his left foot.. Simultaneously his arms flew out to the sides
(on angles about 20 to 30 degrees above the horizontal) and his
body straightened and back arched. Cruise had undeniably assumed
the exact position of one who was being crucified, limbs locked
into place and head titled a bit to the side. This I found really
wild and freaky as I kept silent.

After about 20 seconds in this position, his arms relaxed and
dropped to his sides, and then about 5 seconds later once again
Cruise's body locked into the position of the cross or a person
suffering crucifixion. This lasted for another 30 seconds. We
were now less than 2 minutes into the journey when he relaxed
once again, brought his arms and legs into a normal position,
and opened his eyes. He blinked a couple of times and then
started demanding that I give him information about where he was,
how he got there, all the while emphatically insisting he had
never been there before. Dummy Doc, I thought at the moment that
this was because it was Cruise's first time in my apartment and
that he was just unfamiliar with the surroundings upon awakening.
How wrong I was. He later told me what he was seeing and experiencing.

With his eyes wide open he was fully engaged in level 5
visioning. Cruise was witnessing or experiencing or perceiving
a room full of mysterious spirit beings, with me just being
one of them. He later told me that the room full of Spirit
beings, myself included, looked like the images of the
"Ring Race" people from the Lord of the Rings movie (as when
Frodo puts the ring on.) We all were sort of translucent and
had wispy outlines and all with energy radiating from us.

He was making full eye contact with me and I was not having a
clue as to what he was seeing. I tried to reassure him that it
would all be OK in a few minutes. I can only imagine his
petraficating fear. He later told me that the other spirit
entities he perceived were also reassuring him to remain calm
and telling him it would be all right. I went over by his side
to console him as he kept saying over and over again,
"Where am I Vince?" Where am I? How did I get here? I have never
been here before Vince, how did I get here?" This went on for
a good minute or two before his distress escalated further.
Then it quickly changed to, "I have to get out of here, I have
to get back. Let me out of here!" We were now maybe 4 minutes
past my taking the smoking pipe out of his hands and no more
than 5 minutes time past his last dose/hit.

He then started SHOUTING out loud "HELP ME! Somebody help me!
I have got to get out of here! HELP ME, HELP ME!" Since I live
in an apartment and that we have paper thin walls, my anxiety
over the scene was skyrocketing by the second. I thought to
myself, jeeze I have broken my friend and he is now feakin out.

He then made an attempt to get up and leave my apartment, which
resulted in a brief physical struggle between us, that I
realized I could not win, due to his maddened or crazed state.
Still yelling "HELP ME, I have to get out of here!", I let go
of Cruise, before one of us got hurt, as it would easily have
coming down to that. In his panicked condition it most likely
would have been me getting hurt. He was intent on leaving this
place and a team of horses could not stop him. He later told
me that his only thoughts at that moment were in getting back
to his children (3 girls) who still needed him. He bolted out
my front door of my second story apartment and made it to the
stairs about 20 feet away before he started to come back to his
5 common senses. He then stopped, looked around, looked back at
me, and in a confused and startled frame of mind came right back
into the apartment and started to apologize to me for freaking
out. All and all I guess no more than about 6 minutes went by
from his 2nd hit until he bolted out the door and quickly came
back to this reality.

To fill in a few gaps in the story, Cruise had no recollection
after coming out of level 6 of having had smoked anything
(something I have read others relate about their experiences as
well) and found himself awakened in a world that momentarily
blew his mind. Cruise had kept telling me with eyes wide open "I
have never been here before, where am I". He repeated this over
and over again wanting me to tell him where he was and how he
got there. As stated above, I assumed at the moment it was the
physical surroundings that he was unfamiliar with. I was wrong.
Later he revealed to me that he thought that maybe he had died
and gone on to the afterlife, as this is what he was experiencing,
an awakening into the realm of Spirit. This having occurred right
after experiencing his death in a crucifixion, possibly even the
crucifixion of his Lord Jesus. If you knew him and his single
minded devoutness to Jesus first and his girls second, then all
this conjecture is not to far of a stretch of the imagination.

In spite of all the fright and drama, he soon thanked me and
agreed that the word PROFOUND is all he could use to describe
what happened. He has been forever changed, having had a
possible near death experience (the crucifixion thing) and
rebirth into a spiritual reality that he has always believed
in, but never personally felt or perceived previously.

I have read other stories of those who get to the other side
and then forget what they did to get there. They end up holding
a pipe in their hands and not being able to relate to what a
pipe is or how it got in their hand. People sometimes start
groping at the floor or falling into things if they do this
while standing and/or without proper warning.

We talked for a couple of hours about all of it and then went to
his house. He was even brave enough to do some more that day at
his home with me present later that night. He once again felt
trapped in another place that night, but he did not see Spirits
or freak out. The second time at his home he said he felt as if
his body had taken on a single dimensional plane, like being
stuck in a pain of glass. He has done it again since then several
times. One time he was able to close his eyes and literally see
music, not just hear it, but also see it.. To my knowledge, since
the initial event in my apartment he has not seen any spirits with
Level 5 visioning. He does not associate that particular happening
with something particular to my place/space and me specifically,
as much as he feels it was the dose and his sensitivity to the plant.

Cruise has since expressed much gratitude to me for my introducing
the wondrous visionary plant Salvia Divinorum into his life. Out
of respect for the potential depth of the happenings that this
plant can facilitate, Cruise has gone slow and steady since this
initiation into Salvia Space

So, that is my TRUE sitter's story of witnessing "Cruise A. Fiction"
(say the full name fast and you'll get it, if you had not already
figured it out.)

Seems that amnesia is a very common theme with Salvia.
