Didn't you also write about hearing a buzzing sound or feeling
a buzzing sensation during the aftermath of the experience?
Hearing buzzing sounds like a swarm of insects or a rushing
sound like a waterfall are a quite common aspect of DMT experiences.

The experience of brightening of lights is common to the
psychedelic tryptamines, usually the pupils of the eyes
are dillated, and the sensitivity of the senses is amplified.
DMT, psilocine/psilocybine and LSD have that in common,
the body eliminates DMT quite fast through the action of
monoamine oxydase-A, the presence of MAO-A inhibitors can
prolong the experience, as demonstrated by ayahuasca concoctions.
Theoretically it is also possible in some circumstances
the brain can make its own endogenous MAO-A-I in the form
of the Beta-carboline pinoline. Some think that this mechanism
is behind the experiences of enlightenment by monks who
live for long periods in dark caves and the idea behind the
dark retreats of the taoist teacher Mantak Chia.
