Best to begin with Banisteriopsis caapi, preferably the Cielo/yellow caapi
variety for beginners, 30-40 g per dose and chacruna (30-40 g per dose)
prepare enough to have 2 or 3 doses per person so you can drink another
cup if you want the dream to go deeper, space the dosages one and a half
to two hours apart. You should reduce the volume of the liquid to get
25-60 ml of liquid per dosage, pay special attention to the last
ohase of concentrating the liquid, after filtering out the plant materials
to evaporate slowly to prevent caramelisation and burning of the
brew.
Best to get whole stems and leaves, not pre-shredded/powdered,
to get the caapi vine soft soak the stems in water for 24-48 hours,
and use the soaking water in the brew. Use no or very very little
acidifier in the water you brew with, if you use clean, not too
hard water, no acidifying agent is needed, and if you feel that
it is needed use a small dash of vinegar (which will eventually
mostly evaporate with the water, while lemon or ascorbic acid
will get concentrated and will make for a terrible bitter-sour
brew, wile with no or minimal acidification with vinegar, the
brew can end up bitter-sweet, and the more you concentrate it,
the more the sweetness overwhelms the bitterness, especially
if you evaporate it gently so the plant sugars from the caapi
vine won't caramelise (if the sugars caramelise, the brew gets
more thick, syrup like and gets less sweet).
