Speaking of critters stepping on keyboards, etc:
The last time I was back home in Alaska, I was staying with my best
friend from high school.
One night, we all went out to a concert at a local bar. After the
concert, I left before the others did and went back to the house.
As I approached the house, I noticed *many* police cars parked along the
street near the house. I thought to myself, "Wow, something must be
going on, I wonder what's happening?"
I walked into the house & noticed that the lights were all off, in fact,
it appeared that the power was off. Before I could even think about
heading for the breaker box to check it, the lights came back on & the
stereo came to life at full volume!
After I managed to peel myself from the ceiling, I ran over to the
stereo & shut it off, only to hear *pounding* on the front door. I was
greeted by several cops who wanted to know what the hell was going on.
They had been there for a couple of hours after numerous neighbors had
complained about the stereo. They had located the breaker box, which
was outside, on the back porch, & shut it off.
I tried to explain to them that *everyone* who lived in the house had
left together to go to the concert and that everything was quiet when we
left. They said they thought "someone was dead in there". I assured
them that no, everyone is quite alive, although I had no explanation for
why the stereo was on & at max volume. After a few lectures about noise
ordinances & that if they came back, "someone is going to jail", they
finally decided all was well & left.
After my friends returned, I explained what had occurred. We were
baffled for a while until we spotted one of his cats walking across the
table where the remote control for the stereo was laying!
I guess they were upset that we got to go listen to some music & they
wanted to party too!
Needless to say, after that incident he found cat-proof spot to keep the
remote.
