You've received nothing directly from me yet, Donn, and along with my
deepest sympathies to you, Betty and others close to Kathie Jean, I'd like
to apologize also.
I hope you've been told more privately already, but in case you haven't, the
news of Kathie Jean's death turned out to be the camel's straw in a
rapid-fire sequence of recent deaths among those I know. I've been outdoors
a lot since then - well, increasingly before, as well - and I've been taking
pictures when I can because I makes me focus my attention on what pleases or
interests me most... that helps with these sort of feelings... and I've been
asleep otherwise.
I just wanted you to be sure that you know I wasn't silent out of any lack
of concern or sympathy, that's all.
You've done your kid real proud in your writing, too. :-)
