:
: Thats pretty stupid. Dropping nukes in anger? WTF? Japan had over 130
: underground air force bases and 1800 fighters. BOTH sides estimated it
: would cost more than a million American lives to invade the mainland, not
to
: mention the several million deaths to the Japanese. In case youre
unaware,
: our firebombing of Japanese cities killed FAR AND AWAY more people than
: those two little nukes did.
:
: They were used to hasten the end of the war and ultimately save lives.
And
: thats exactly what occured. Invading Japans mainland would have taken
years
: and years. They, like us, would have fought to the last man standing.
You
: must know little of their culture or political mind-set of the time. They
: soaked Chinese people in biological weapons, just to see what would
happen.
: Its too bad the war ended so abruptly, or we could have...
:
: Maybe youre lacking in history. Did you know that at one point Japan
: conquered Russia as well? They were a vile and ruthless country deserving
: of no respect or mercy. A nation of living fools intent on worshiping as
: god their ruler. What occured was the only morally rightous thing. Two
: bombs saved millions. America's, at least the ones ignorant of history,
are
: the only fools to complain about our use of big bombs.
:
: Maybe you dont know, but the Japanese had subs off our coast ready to lob
: nuclear bombs into California. My guess is that you werent aware of that.
: When youre at war, 100,000 of the enemy isnt worth the life of one of your
: own.

Hi Guys,

Rob what you said is completely true. The U.S. showed great restraint for
years in not getting involved in the war. Only AFTER Japan bombed US,
minding our own business, did we start to defend ourselves. I have to
repeat that. Only after Japan bombed us, the innocents sitting on the
sideline, did we bomb them to get it to stop. And it is true that the two
BIG bombs saved lives because it ended the violence - pronto.

Abdi, you could learn a thing or two about being kind, especially since your
views are rarely based on fact. Of course the USA has made mistakes and we
can admit them. But we do believe in democracy and freedom and the
blessings it gives to all who get to enjoy it.

None of us want war. We don't want our boys to be maimed or killed.
Especially for those who aren't going to appreciate it.

But our bible, the Word of God, says we are to be our 'brother's keeper',
meaning we are NOT to watch suffering without taking a stand to defend the
unjustly downtrodden. Please be aware we have NEVER acted as dictators,
taking land or collecting taxes from a 'conquered foe' - we are always just
a protective big brother trying to do what the world says they expect of us.
We put the countries back together, get them on their feet, and leave - is
that not benevolent?

Abdi, aren't you Muslim? Not being smart-aleck, what do you think of the
wealthy Muslim individuals and countries who have done almost nothing to
help your own people after the tsunami - when we, the U.S. have done more
than all other countries combined? What does your faith teach you about
ignoring suffering?

Do you think perhaps your negative prejudices are showing? And perhaps,
just like any individual human, we as a country, try to do good and
sometimes fail and make mistakes, but we do operate from a position of
intended kindness. We as a nation could have turned a blind eye to those
suffering in Iraq, kept our $200billion and 1500 lives and said - let their
Muslim brothers take care of it - it isn't our business.

Would you respect the USA more if we'd done that?

Rebecca
