| I am just going by my memory but I assume CW was purposefully being
facetious :-)
I seem to remember Pat Buchanan using the term as an insult for the entire
country when Canada chose not to join the Iraq war.
We do not care much what he thinks, but I must thank him for unifying almost
all Canadians across the country, regardless of their political stands. It
is the only thing the previous Prime Minister, Jean Chretien, did that
almost all Canadians thought was a good thing and the right thing.
Most Canadians believe going to Afghanistan to aid our allies was the right
thing, but going to Iraq was wrong thing for the wrong reasons at the wrong
time. If anything, we feel sorry that Americans have to put up with Mr
Buchanan.
However, to get back on topic
I live near downtown Vancouver (which was recently ranked the third best
city in the world to live after Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland).
Jennifer and Richard also live in the city while Dora and Bob D live in the
suburbs. Michael lives about 600 miles by air or above thousand miles by
road north of here which is about 60 miles across the Pacific from Prince
River British Columbia, Canada which is where I lived when first diagnose.
The nearest American City to either the Queen Charlotte Islands would be
Ketchikan Alaska. I doubt if there is any better place from a climate
perspective - not too hot in the summer and not to cold in winter although
they are is a fair amount of rain (I quite liked it, especially the fresh
air are coming from Japan across the Pacific)
Although I grew up around Vancouver, I have spent most of my adult life at
various rural areas within British Columbia and the Yukon and was ready for
the big-city. :-)
