| Hi,
i had my spinal tap on thursday (today is monday) and I stil have
awfull headache. I know i can get a blood-patch but i would rather not
have needle again in my back... Do you maybe know if the headaches
will go away after some time (even without additional tap) if I just
stay laying in bed? I would really rather wait for them just to cease
by theirown.
thanks for any help,
kasia

The seemingly tried-and-true non-medical treatment used by many, many people
on this group is drinking Mountain Dew. I know that might sound too easy or
even nonsensical but it works.
Someone (Ed Hill?) posted a long time ago that he found Mountain Dew removed
the after-spinal-tap headache. For reasons he posted ( I can't remember) it
worked wonders.
Lying down is still the best preventative but gulping down a good portion of
Mounain Dew should help immensely.
Good luck.

| Yes, I've read about mountain dew - I am not surprised, since it
contains a lot of cofeine. My doctor told me to drink many cofeine
beveradges and i did - the problem is I still have a headache after 4
days... I will probably wait one week and then call my dr. And i will
try the mountain dew :D - it won't rather do any harm . The problem
is I am affraid to have this blood patch - I've read it can also have
some serious sideeffects and after my spinal I had enough of these...
Thanks for your advise,
Kasia

If its lasted that long, I doubt it has anything to do with your headache.

| kasia, do you still have the same headache? after five days, it should
NOT still be there. mine always abated within 24 hours or a little
longer, but five days seems like far too long.
i'd talk to the doc about it if i were you.
best,
rose
