| Does anyone have these feelings of elec. type shock feeligs? It drives
me nuts and it is from my right shoulder and down my whole side to my
toes. Baclofin helps me by not a lot. I was up all night trying to get
beyond this 'horror' as I couldn't ignor this. The FEELINGS were also
deep into my rectum. How do you cope?
Last night I put on my earphones with music and this helped me sleep!!

If it is what i am thinking of it is a common MS symptom.. I had it for
years since my teens but the doc thought i was hypochondriac. it stopped
the last 10 years or so - h'm 43 now and my mind/memory is going..LOL
so i can't tell u the name! :-). Someone else her should remember
it...anyone? I did not learn the name for this until after it was gone
and i read here about it and found out it had a name.. I'm sorry i
forgot the name for it but someone here will know it the will likely
post it. It is worse when u bend your head/neck forward..

Yes Jim that is it..her description sounded vaguely like it might be
that. Thanks! Glo look that up and see if that describes what you
feel. I don't know if there is medication for it if it really bothers
you, but i seem to recall a message about some meds helping at some
point in the past few years i think..my brain is toast. big easter
dinner, all blood has gone to my stomach area aiding with digestion i
guess...

hi Glo,
as we used to say back in the 70s -- 'MYYYY...self, mahn!" ;->
i've had a medi-gap policy for the last year, and things have been SO
much better, but before then, and in another three months when the
policy expires, it'll be back to straight medicare, and doing without
whatever can't be afforded otherwise.
go for the generics. tegretol helps with the burning, buzzing,
neuropathic type pain, and it's dirt cheap. for the other kinds of
muscle spasms, the doc tried me out on zanaflex for a while (after i
had coverage thru the medi-gap policy), because he'd heard it was more
effective with M.S.-related spasms. in my case, the FX were no better
than they'd been with valium, so it was back to valium, again, because
it's affordable.
neurontin has gone generic now -- gabapentin is the generic form.
some of the anti-depressants that are used for neuro pain are also some
of the older, cheaper ones -- i know kelly mentioned elavil, other
tri-cyclics are also used, and unlike the SSRIs and other newer AD
meds, they're generic and thus much cheaper.
many of the pharmaceutical comapnies have prescription assistance
programs for patients unable to afford them -- guess they'd rather get
SOME money than none at all. the CRAB drugs have patient programs, IF
you're interested in going back on one of them -- they may still be
inaffordable even with the program, that depends on your own financial
sitch and how good the specific program offered by each specific
company is.
also, i was able to give a lot of prescription meds a 'trial run,' as
my neuro provided free samples of expensive meds i would otherwise have
been unable to afford -- neurontin was one of them, as was provigil.
that way, i could see if the drug involved seemed to have any benefits
in my own specific case without dropping a bundle to pay for a month's
worth. at one point, he was so jazzed by the reports he'd been getting
re provigil, he wanted me to continue taking it, so once a month,
dennis stopped off at the office on his way home from work and picked
up ANOTHER month's worth -- for 4 months plus -- it wasn't a miracle
drug for me as it apparently is for some, but i was able to find that
out free of charge. ;->
the disease modifying drugs i bet will ALWAYS be expensive, but
symptomatic treatment is available fairly cheaply. in many cases, the
newer, more expensive drugs don't necessarily work better than the
older, more cost-effective ones.
best of good fortune to you!

| Rose THANK YOU!!!! I am writing some of these down (PRINTER BROKE) and I
take Baclofen for now but it isn't doing as well now as it was. I once
took Nerontin which I LOVED ! I wrote generic name for that too. I take
Elevil which helps too.
Thank you for taking the time to give me extensive answers! EVERYONE has
been a BIG help here
Affectionetly,
glo
