I've used Lyrica. It didn't help my leg pains as much as Gabapentin
despite it being the same group of drugs. Converting slowly from
Gabapentin to Lyrica and then back to Gabapentin was not easy. I've
now given them both up because the common SSRI Citalopram has fixed my
leg pains, headaches and my anxiety attacks. Now I'm only taking 10mg
Citalopram and 20mg Baclofen each day. Just three tablets - it's
great!

That great thats working. I have been on several of the ssri's and
none of them have really helped my pain much. Thats why I was thinking
about the gaba analogs, (gabapentin and lyrica), but now I have heard
from you and several others that have not said really great things
about these meds.. So I am not sure that I want to try them...

Thanks for your help.

Different drugs work better for some than for others. I take gabapentin and
percocet and they do a passable job. I have morphine available if things
get too bad.

Leg braces will arrive in December to control foot drop. Perhaps these will
help with the pain.

Jim, I've had foot drop on the left side for years now. Cowboy boots
actually help to a good degree, in fact to the point where my doctors
have recommended it for their less severly affected folks. My big
problem lately is just the opposite...periodically big toes curling 'up'
to the point of severe pain. Boots, mocs or deck shoes don't help at
all. Sometimes it gets so bad I would consider amputation. Probably a
45 would work much faster than a scapel, whadaya think? Or maybe my
nail gun. Couple of 10 penny nails ought to hold them down.

Bear hugs to you both,

Tick

Keep in mind that I am bed ridden, I have no use for boots. Police boots
helped in summer, autumn, and spring in the days before the wheelchair. In
winter I wore some type of construction boot.

The doctors are now trying botox to control the foot drop (and the pain) by
relaxing the leg muscles. It helps the pain in most of my leg, but cannot
be injected into my feet, which is where I feel pain now.

All this is to try and get me back in the wheel chair so that I can become
mobile again. Right now, sitting in a wheel chair is impossible due to the
leg muscles (tendons ?) being pulled.

There is much irony in this.

That happened to me twice, Tick and it hurts big time. It took about five
minutes of massage and whining and saying bad words before I could even put that
foot on the floor. I was trying to get out of bed. Toe was sticking right up and
would not move. Yuck, it hurts even thinking about it now.
