hmmm, my online ordering depends to some extent on what's on sale -- if
something i hadn't planned to buy is on sale, and it's something we
use, i'll order it!
i love online grocery shopping. when Home Grocer was operating in our
area, we used them, then they were bought out by Webvan, who we used,
but had MEGA problems with. Albertson's grocery store offers online
ordering and delivery; there's a $10 delivery fee, which chaps ME, but
Dennis says dont' sweat ten bucks, it's worth it.
we don't have an actual automobile -- one motorcycle and two transit
passes between us. so, previously, it was Dennis picking up what he
could carry on his tank bag, and me making a 3-mile round trip walk to
the grocery store, picking up what *I* could carry 1.5 miles straight
up hill, LOL.
when my walking got bad, before albertsons.com, Dennis made frequent
trips to the store on his bike to pick up stuff, and he's a lot like
the guy in the Carls, Jr. ads who stands in front of an aisle staring
blankly..."without us, some guys would starve!" LOL! if i wrote 'bread'
on a list, he'd spend 20 minutes staring at the bread aisle, scratching
his head -- who knew there were so many different kinds of BREAD? hee.
we order online groceries from albertsons.com twice monthly, on payday,
and if something runs out before the next order cycle, Dennis will pick
it up on his way home from work -- Food 4 Less is open till 2 a.m.
every day.
it's been a godsend for us, it really has. gives me the option to
actually SHOP from my chair right here, plan decent meals instead of
junk, and write down 2 weeks' worth of dinner menus to stick to the
fridge so i dont' forget why i bought the habaneros, or whatever. ;->
i've never been a big impulse buyer, because i've been limited by A.
what i can afford, and B. what i can carry up the hill. DENNIS, OTOH,
has been known to make a run for bread and milk, and come back with
Twinkies and Oreo-O's...so yeah, i guess it HAS cut down on the impulse
buying, as well as making life all kinds of easier in a lot of
different ways. :->
best,
rose
