Went to Boise again!!!!!
|
|
| Rob Duncan 2004-11-01, 10:08 pm |
| I went to Boise Idaho to watch my Boise Broncos play football again.
WOOOOOOHHHPPPPOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! Damn they are good! The game against Fresno
State was wild, the stadium rocked, and there were tens of thousands of
people having tail-gate parties out in the massive parking lots, while the
stadium set an alltime attendence record. Standing room only. Boise blew
them away, BAD!
THEN, just this saturday they played Hawaii. Exact same thing, but this
time the score was beyond belief. Boise rocked the pineapple-heads 69 - 3.
Ive never been to a game like that in my entire life. The Broncos crushed
and destroyed one of the best quarterbacks in all of college football. In
the entire year hes only had 3 interceptions... in this game alone he was
intercepted... 5 times. WILD!
Downtown Boise was on fire. They really have no clue how good their team
is. I dont even think the coach knows how good his team is. They are
AWESOME! I havent had that much fun in a long, long time. They play again
on the 13th and the 20th. I cant wait! They have the longest winning
streak in the entire nation and the longest at-home winning streak in the
nation. Theyre a WAC team... not even a BCS team, and Ill bet a dollar to a
donut that theyll be playing in a BCS bowl come the end of the season.
The scary thing is... This is a young team. A VERY young team. I think
every football team in the nation has good reason to fear these guys. Ive
played football my entire life. From 9 years old onward. Little league, jr
high, high school, college, overseas, and never have I seen a team as good
as this. NEVER.
How the Oregon Ducks managed to lose Zebranski (the Broncos quarterback) to
the Boise Broncos, I dont know... but it was a major f-up on their part...
Hes from Hermiston Oregon. (I drive by it every time I go down to Boise.)
In other words... I had some major fun! :*)
Rob
(I wore my Broncos hat so tight I had divets in my skull, lol.)

This game was seen world wide, and the funny thing was, all the pre-game
talk was about how Hawaiis quarterback was going to break the ALL-TIME NCAA
Passing record against the Broncos... I dont think so! LOL.
Boise scored 38 points in the 4th quarter, and held Chang 14 yards short of
getting the passing record. And at that point in the game he was trying to
do it against Boises 2nd and 3rd string defensive backs. Boise has now
joined the ranks of the NCAA Div-1 giants in football. This team is young,
very young! I cant believe how good they are. I would put them up against
anyone... if it werent for the east-coast bias they would have had a better
schedule and could have whooped XXX on some better teams, and would be
ranked even higher. Oh-well.
Their quarterback is lightening fast! He scrambled from a bad pass play and
ran 90+ (I think) yards for a touchdown. I wouldnt doubt hes the fastest
guy on the team, and hes only a sophmore. A SOPHOMORE! "Zebranski!"
Remember that name...

Ah yes, the Smurf-Turf! Its funny, but when youre there you get used to the
field really fast. you dont even notice it after a while. I havent seen
them on tv lately, but I always remember it being an oddity. I think they
should have all blue uniforms and socks so they can blend in even better.
heh.
What a great place to go see games. I love it.

Yeah Jackee!!!!! Arent the Broncos great?! And btw, I love Boise. Great
small city. My buddy does the weather forecasts for Channel 6 news. Scott
Dorval? Do you ever see him on TV?
Once he, I, and Stef went skiing and the ticket counter girl goes...
"oooooohhhhh... arent you that weather guy? I guess you should have a free
season pass." Grr... Did you know hes short, I mean REAL short. But he
doesnt look that way on TV. He met his wife, (a very close friend of mine I
grew up with) by continually asking her for rides home after a night out on
the town. She finally gave in, and well, you can guess the rest of the
story.
Anyway, where did you go to school?
(Maybe I shouldnt be talkng about him in public, lol) Ah, who cares, hes a
public figure, and a cool guy to boot.

That's awesome your friend is Scott Dorval, of course I know of him! You

I went to college at BSU, I am not originally from here, but have been here

| Hairy eyeball??? lol too funny! I agree that he did make the Broncos as
good as they are today.
Harry's in Meridian is a great spot, I used to go there for the finger
steaks and fries, yumm!
Let's see.... the last time I had a night on the town... probably wasn't
long enough ago We hang out in the downtown area from time to time. My
husband works on Main Street downtown, so those simple drinks after work end
up in late nights from time to time. I used to live right downtown, it was
great! Walking distance to everything, and only a half a block to my old
hangout the Cactus! I guess have become sheltered in my life anymore.
Usually just watch the football games from home. I used to love to go to
the games, ok well not the game itself, but the tail gate parties in the
Chili's parking lot, so much fun!
That's funny Scott Dorval gets spoiled, in Boise our news people are all
local celebrities.
So where is the Piano Bar? The Manhattan? I like that place, the dueling
pianos, so much fun!
As far as my MS, I am mobile, most days anyhow. Diagnosis May 2002,
starting with optic neuritis. I started Avonex 4 months ago, adjusting to
that, blah! I did the same thing, research and research more. Now just
accepting and learning what I can do and cope with. My big sister was
diagnosed in March of this year, she's 28. Just been crazy! It has
motivated me to raise money for MS and to try and be extremely informed. So
are you originally from Portland? I haven't been there for a few years.
Recently had 2 friends and their families move there. They seem to like it.
It would be great to be by the coast I think! How does the weather there
effect you?

I had to park so far away from the stadium I broke out in a sweat when we
finally got there for the Fresno State game. Remember the Massive downpoar
of rain? It was wild in the arena when it started. I wonder what it looked
like on national television? The rain was coming down in sheets. Everyone
was soaked to the bone. We didnt care though... we snuck in a small flask
of Blackberry Brandy and drank a shot every time Boise scored. LOL, we
ended up having to finish off the entire flask they scored so much. That
warmed us up real gooooood!
> That's funny Scott Dorval gets spoiled, in Boise our news people are all

Hes a great guy. Im so glad Sarah and He are married. I "may" have
something to tell you about them in a month or two. (hint/hint) Lets all
keep that to ourselves for the timebeing okay?
> So where is the Piano Bar? The Manhattan? I like that place, the dueling
> pianos, so much fun!
Yes, yes. THATS the place. I love that place. I like how they switch
around on the pianos and the drumb kit. Taking requests. (though the money
bowl wouldnt fly in a city like Portland, theres just to many good bands who
wouldnt stoop so low.)

The weather sucks. Portland has the crappiest weather Ive ever seen. The
summer and fall are the best times. Usually they are pretty good. A couple
of years ago it rained every single day except for one... for, three,
months, straight. GRRRRRRrrrr.... But the city itself... simply gorgeous.
Green, green, green. Year round. We have Forest Park. The largest city
park in the entire nation. In fact, its so big, they recently found a man
and his daughter who had been living in it under tarps, for, get this, 4
straight years. He educated her with a collection of encyclopedias he had
found in someones trash. Isnt that wild? Child protective sevices said she
was a well treated, well adjusted, very intelligent little girl and made no
move to remove custody. They even found a home for them. Of course they
got sick of that life quickly and simply disapeared again. Who can blame
them I guess?
Despite what my internet behavior may indicate, Im actually a normal person.
:*) Would love to take you two out for dinner next time Im down. I have a
friend whos flying to Hawaii to watch the Vandals play Hawaii and Ill be
house sitting for a couple of weeks while theyre on vacation.
Ill have three different houses Ill have to run to each day to take care of
rats, cats, dogs, and rabbits. It should make life interesting for a while.
If you would like to meet Scott and Sarah, by all means, well invite them to
dinner. Theyre a very fun couple. I love Sarah, she was my buddy growing
up.

WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!! Ill bet you gave him the "hairy eyeball" on occasion.
lol. What does that mean anyway? hah hah! :*) If it werent for Dinwiddie
the Broncos wouldnt be as good as they are today. They owe a lot to him.

Im not sure if Ill have tickets for the game on the 13th... but I'll be down
there none-the-less. (as a last resort scalpers are always willing to
sell.) Would you like to meet us for dinner or something and watch the
game? If I cant get tickets Ill probably go to Harrys Bar in Meridian and
watch it. Its a great sports bar. Whens the last time you had a good night
out on the town? Well buy!

Weiser?

Portland! Great city, wildly liberal though. Theres a huge difference
between Boise and Portland.

Im a loud-mouthed fellow sufferer. But, like most I presume, Ive talked
about MS just about all my brain can handle. I learned all I could learn,
or all I felt I thought I should learn, I should say; offered tons of
unasasked for advice, came up with my own ideas about MS, and finally, again
like most I presume, tuckered out after awhile. Now I simply exist, with MS
as a partner through life, no longer in hate with that side of myself. The
side that betrayed my health.
I hated that side of me for a long time. No more. I think its all part of
the grieving process. Who knows? How mobile are you? Have you ever been
to the "Piano Bar?" I LOVE that place! I talked to the band and they said
they used to be in Portland, but Ive never heard of them before I visited
Boise. Anyway, It would be nice to have dinner or lunch with a cool Bronco
MSer Ive met over the net.
