So, this guy Hayek, is a fairly clever fellow. I have read many of his posts
and you have to give him his due, on that account. However, he seems to be a
walking victim. He is unable to translate his apparent intelligence into
financial gain and position. I would guess that a history of CFS has
contributed largely to that. The bottom line is that he complains of having
no money in both subtle and direct ways.

I have costed out the laundry list of supplements, which I compiled above,
and it is very expensive. Still, it is much less expensive than a two week
trip to Europe, to have Hayek give you a few pills. In any case, I cannot
see this guy giving away that amount of supplements, worth that amount of
money, to 300 people. He could not afford it. The list I have composed is
likely a sledge hammer, where a finger tap will do.

Much of the supplement list deals with nutirents depleted in the production
and use of glutathione, so I would surmise that he is actually supplementing
high dose L-gutathione (reduced) in combination with one or two other
things.

In my initial research, I came to the conclusion that glutathione cannot be
taken orally, since it is contained in many foods, but the molecule is too
large to be absorbed. However, it seems that "L-glutathione (reduced)" is
processed to be digestable. Apparently, it is broken down during digestion
and can be absorbed in this fractured form, and then the parts are available
for the body to re-assemble. Thus the description "reduced". This
supplement is widely available at a much more reasonable cost than
supplementing the individual precursors in bulk.

I already take a rather extensive list of supplements, albeit many in less
than RDI ammounts. So, I have decided to hold off on the sledge hammer
approach and try supplementing high dose L-glutathione (reduced), with my
current list of supplements, before trying to anything else.

My current supplement regimen includes one Jamieson B 100 complex., a
multivitamin plus minerals, with a very extensive list of ingredients, Green
Tea Extract(4 caps), 500mg L-Carnosine, 6mg melatonin, and 2000mg L-Lysine.

Since I already take all these supplements, it seems like a good place to
start, by just adding L-glutathione (reduced) to the mix. I is possible that
one or more of Hyak's other ingredients is already contained in my current
supplements.

If anyone is actually interested, I will here illucidate the reason for
taking each supplement:

Multivitamin with minerals

- I tend to have poor eating habits and want to ensure that I get a good
cross-section of nutrients, that I may be missing from my diet. This is
because I am over fifty and find that I can gain weight too easily. I need
to eat more sparingly and exercise regulary, to keep from getting big.

B 100 complex

- Vitamin B1 has been found to prophylactically reduce non-enzymatic
glycosylation, which is protein damage, caused by heat and glucose. The
glucose binds to protein chains, forming damaging cross-links between
protein chains, which degrade the function of the proteins. This leads to
many types of deterioration in the body, which are seen as signs of aging.
So, high dose B1 helps retard aging. B vitamins are recommened to be taken
in combination, so I take a complex.

L-Carnosine

-This supplement tags defective proteins for replacement, so that protein
repair can be accomplished. I take this supplement also to retard aging and
help prevent diseases related to protein damage.

Green Tea Extract

-This supplement contains powerful plant poylphenol anti-oxidants, and
contains EGCG, which can cause appoptosis (cell death) selectively in cancer
cells, while not affecting normal cells, by binding to a T-NOX receptor,
which prevents the cell from feeding freely. Normal cells have a NOX
receptor and do not have a T-NOX receptor, so they are unaffected.

-I smoked from age 19 to past age fifty before quitting. My dad was also a
smoker, and although he quit in his fifties, he died of lung cancer in his
mid seventies. I take this supplement to hopefully prevent that from
happening to me.

L-Lysine

-Many, if not all viruses feed on Arginine. The Lysine molecule can attach
to one of the arginine receptors on the virus and prevent the virus from
feeding at the receptor, thus impairing the virus from flourishing.

Melatonin

-The body produces less melatonin as it ages, and this leads to sleep
problems, which can affect the body's ability to repair itself. The body
repairs itself most effectively during deep REM sleep. A lack of melatonin
reduces the amount of REM sleep experienced during the night. I take this
about 1 1/2 hours before bedtime.

L-Glutathione (reduced)

-What can I say. I'm a party animal with lots of bad habits, one of which is
drinking too much and too often, in the sun. I also have a chlorinated
swimming pool. I exercise hard regularly. I get a fair amount of stress in
my life in work and at home. I have been using aspartame for years to avoid
sugars. I was unaware that it was fairly toxic and have now stopped using
it. I believe that psoriasis started for me when I was given a jar full of
mercury to play with as a child, and also had many mercury fillings (now
gone). I have also been of the conviction that the psoriasis from which I
suffer is the result of chronic infection(s). It seems I have been and
continue to be exposed to many toxins, which likely substantially deplete my
glutathione levels. Having followed Hayeks threads and recommended readings,
I am taking this supplement to top up and sustain my glutathione levels, to
reduce toxicity in my body and help boost my immune system, to hopefully
beat off the chronic infection, which I believe is actually causing me to
suffer from psoriasis.
