| Can anyone out there recommend a dermatologist here in Los Angeles? I
have moderate/severe psoriasis, and I would like to find a doctor to
work with me on it, but it seems like the only derms I can find in the
area specialize in cosmetic surgery (not a surprise).
Thanks!

Not really, I'd like to see any first-hand recommendations myself.
Especially in the Westwood/Santa Monica/Westside areas.
If I finally drag myself out in search of Enbrel, I'll probably go to
a guy I've gone to before, Dr. W, met him when he (right out of
internship?) partnered for a year or so with a big-name psoriasis doc,
but big-name has since left town, and now Dr. W really specializes in
cosmetic surgery, too, (and he is just fantastic with a blade if you
need something sliced and diced!) but he still has a couple of old
psoriasis patients, too. Recently took on a partner himself, maybe
she will do more non-cosmetics. Though really, isn't psoriasis just a
cosmetic issue, too? Ha!
Dr. W was doing a couple of patients on Enbrel last time I spoke to
him, over a year ago, and said if I wanted something like Amevive that
he didn't handle (it might have been an infusion still when I asked,
now Amevive is intramuscular, but it's still an office procedure, not
home), there was a guy down the hall, a Dr. S, who did that. All in
the UCLA medical center. Last recommendation from Dr. W was to a
general diagnostician down the hall when I wanted just a general
checkup, guy turned out to be OK in my estimation, but not good enough
to give me any blind faith in Dr. S.
I'm guessing there are better (read: more specialized) docs in the
same building, but I don't know their names, or how to cull them from
any other blind listings.
I've followed up a couple of other recommendations from lists or
friends to other derms around town and been markedly unimpressed, but
it's clear I'm a real pain when it comes to actively recommending
doctors. Don't even get me going on my mother's (non-p) medical
treatments over the past few years, in supposedly good facilities with
supposedly good doctors, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. If these guys built
bridges, we'd still be using ferry boats, that's all I'm saying.
Though I did finally manage to find her a pretty good doctor. But I
guess he doesn't know any great derms, he sure doesn't know any great
rheums, because when we wanted one to consult for Mom's arthritis the
only name he mentioned was a quack who had "treated" Mom earlier - and
basically led her right to a life-threatening crisis.
Um, what was the question?

| How about finding out if your psorisasis is triggered by food
sensitivities? Pick up a book at the library about food intolerances or
food allergies. You can also talk to a naturopathic doctor (Yellow
Pages) or an alternative doctor (www.acam.org) about Hidden Food
Sensitivities. You can have a reaction to foods 72 hours after you eat
them. You might also get a tremendous boost in energy, healthier
looking skin (all over your body), healthier gums, and a more restful
sleep too.

I don't see the need to prove something that requires such a
small, harmless investment (changing your diet). Stop being such a
pompous bastard.

If you are not going to read what I said in the other thread, then
leave me alone to help others.
