Hi again,

Been to the doctors today about by Psoriasis. My doctor has referred me to
a dermatologist at the local hospital with a view to treating my Psoriasis
more effectively in the future.

In the interim he has prescribed Cocois ointment as an alternative to the
Betnovate that I was applying to my head. The advice on applying this is to
keep it on for 1 hour and then rinse / shower off. I have a naturally
greasy scalp and must wash my hair first thing in the morning. If I don't
the Psoriasis itching is much worse during the day because my natural scalp
oils get into my plaques.

I'm asking if there would be any problems if I kept the ointment on
overnight and washed it out in the morning. Will there be any ill effects
(like hair loss or inflamation) if I don't wash out after 1 hour?

Thanks.

I used to leave it on over night then wash it off with polytar shampoo in
the morning.
For me it worked I only use the polytar shampoo each morning to keep things
stable.
Use old pillow slips and don't be put off by the smell!

Good luck hope it works as well for you as it did for me.

John.

I've left it on for a whole day when I forgot to wash it off. Nothing
bad happened. I think the one hour instruction is because it takes
that long to work not because it will do any harm.

When I was treated with it in hospital in the early seventies I had to leave
it on overnight and wash it off every morning with polytar shampoo.
They've probably got more accurate with the timing since then!
Took several applications of shampoo to get it off though!!
Good luck with it. It does work but takes a few weeks to show the full
benefits.
