Author HSV Type-2 Specific Ab, IgG test question

32/M no medication or known existing health problems.

At times I feel itchy, irritable, sweaty and a burning sensation
(exterior). This has been going on for 2 weeks. I noticed white bumps on
my penis. Cant say if they are new or not. They dont appear to be
blistery. Very small (needle tip size). Test results came back negative
for HIV, syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia and herpes. How accurate is the
HSV Type 2-Specific Ab, IgG test? I am going through moods of relief
that the tests were negative to panic and anxiety whenever the above
symptoms occur. I have made a followup appointment with my doctor which
wont be for another week.

Hi Dew,

The blood tests are accurate for herpes...but sometimes the doctors are not
that great at reading and interpreting them.

What you describe doesn't sound like herpes, though.

Blood tests look for antibodies in the blood sample, which can take
from 12-16 weeks after infection before they show up. So if you were
infected at least 12-16 weeks before the test, your result will be
very accurate. If you were infected more recently than that, a false
negative result is more likely. If you think that may be the case,
wait the required time and test again.

Dew,

The white bumps you describe doesn't sound at all like hsv. Pretty
sure the doc will rule out hsv.
