I have been seeing this girl for the last three weeks. After a sex
session today i had a look down in her groin area and saw one pimple
looking thing, it was slightly white on the top. There was only one and
it was not in her hair but just to the side. It was hard on top as
well. She said she got it when she was tired or stressed. She said she
thought it was rinpa or rimpan or something. She said got one last year
when she was travellng and it got so big that it hurt when she walked,
before she squeezed it and it burst.

Anyway, anyone got any photos of what herpes looks like. Apparently
condoms dont stop it and it is common.

Sometimes a pimple is just a pimple. Herpes blisters tend not to burst.
But only a doctor will be able to tell for sure. A blood test would be a
good idea. And, you should get one too as you might already have the herpes
virus.

You can look at as many pictures on the internet as you want but they do not
adequately present what herpes is. It can be no symptoms, or a rash, or one
bump, or many blisters. And what's on the internet tends to be the worst
case scenarios.

hmmm... interesting.

There are lots of pictures all over the internet that show what herpes looks
like... the only problem with the photos that you find on the net is that
they are not reliable. Most of the photos are worst case scenarios and are
taken from people that have all sorts of immune complications. These
pictures are not realistic of what herpes really looks like on the average
person. Also... not everybody that has herpes has signs or symptoms so the
only way to really find out if you or your partner has herpes is to have
proper herpes testing done. A type specific antibody test would probably do

in that area for a day before, and I can especially feel them when my
pants rub over the areas, which feel raw. Then I get between 1-6
swollen red areas that form on the inner thigh near the groin. The
swollen areas sometimes have a center that looks like a pimple, but it
doesnt burst on its own. Usually in a day or two the area becomes less
swollen and itchy and the center looks more like a small scab and then
thats really it. I get outbreaks from stress, over fatigue and before I
am going to get sick. For instance, right now I have bronchitis, and I
had a moderate sized outbreak a week before I got really sick. Now its
been 6 weeks and I haven't had any others.

What I get is nothing what the pictures on the internet look like. When
you look at herpes pictures online you'll see what looks like leprosy
and most people don't get anything like that unless they have very
supressed immune systems.

In addition to getting tested or having your girlfriend talk to a
reliable medical source, you might want to read a good book which I
found helpful. Its called Managing Herpes; How to Live and Love with a
Chronic STD.

Thanks for the info, I havent had any scars or spots, but since seeing
this particular girl my ball and pubic hair area has been really itchy,
hopefully just thrush or the humidity, it is very humid at the moment.
I had thush four weeks ago. The girl wouldnt go to a doctors so I am
not sure.

16 weeks after the time you were with this girl, you can go to a doctor
yourself and get a blood test to see if you have herpes.

16 weeks hey. I should get the Western Blot test right? Are lots of
people really infected but with no symptoms- 25% in the crutch and 40%
on the mouth, is this true?

Yes, you should do your best to get the Herpes Specific Western Blot test.
Yes, lots of people have no symptoms. As to the percentages, I don't know.

If you are still unsure of your herpes status then the Herpes Specific
Western Blot is the gold standard when it comes to herpes testing. It will
tell you if you have hsv-1, hsv-2, both, or nothing at all.

As far as statistics go... they say that it's 90% of people that have
genital herpes that don't actually know if they have it or not. This could
be for many different reasons as to why they don't know that they have it...
1.) They might have symptoms that they don't recognize as herpes symptoms OR
they mistake them for something else 2.) Testing for herpes isn't part of
the routine std testing process so they have assumed they are free and clear
3.) They just don't have any signs or symptoms...

In spite of what you are finding with percentages, statistics, etc. You just
have to take what you know and realize that each person is different.

5)They don't know that their coldsores are little HSV-1 reservoirs
which can be passed on to others in other areas than orally.

I think the last one is the saddest because so many folks out there are
totally ignorant on this one.

That's true! I've come across many individuals over the last nine years that
are afraid to see their doctors. They don't want to know what the problem is
because they aren't sure if they will be able to handle the information.
It's the people that grab the bull by the horns and demand answers, research
and learn whatever they can about their disorder, stop worrying about what
others will think, and realize that they are more than just a virus... those
are the people that wind up ultimately happy in spite of their health
realities. If you are one of those individuals then you might want to think
about picking up the phone on Monday and just go ahead and schedule an
appointment to see your family physician. Perhaps writing down your
questions on a piece of paper might help you to remember what you need to
discuss with the doc. You also have to remember that doctors and healthcare
providers are not perfect, they are not Gods, they are human and they make
mistakes too. They don't always possess the best people skills either... so
be sure you are comfortable with the person. If you aren't comfortable with
the person then find one that you do like and just go from there.. Good
luck!

Any time there is an opening in the skin OR viral activity present on the
surface of the skin.. there will be an oppurtunity to pass herpes to a
potential partner. That can and usually is done via kissing and/or some type
of sexual act.
