| Hi
I was diagnosed with herpes three weeks ago and now I have got a patch
on my neck which is just horrible and very sore in this weather. I am
really fed about about having herpes, I am a busy mum with three
children and am often run down so am worried I will keep getting
outbreaks. Would love to chat to anybody who has advice or herpes
themselves as I feel like I am really disgusting at the moment and need
people to tell me I am not!!

But I know how you feel.
Did your doctor give you a prescription for one of the antivirals? It might
help you get through this "introductory phase."
Are you sure what you have on your neck is herpes? This is not a normal
spot to have herpes. Did the doctor do a culture to make sure that's what
it was?
I'm glad you are worried about being run-down. That means you understand
that herpes is opportunistic. Your best defense is to be healthy.
Vitamins, exercise, plenty of rest. I know the rest part must seem
ridiculous with three children.

How were you diagnosed? Do you have oral herpes, genital herpes, or both?

Was your doctor able to help answer any questions that you might have about
herpes? Being run down can sometimes be a sign that you are going through an
outbreak or you are about to go through an outbreak. Being run down can also
just be a sign of depression or other things in your life that you might be
dealing with... honestly... I think you are probably more stress out than
anything else. Sometimes stress can be a trigger for herpes outbreaks.

well I initially had genital herpes which really upset me although I
only had a very tiny patch which cleared very quickly but now this
patch has come on my neck and the doctor has given me cream but its
really fighting it. Just feel a bit fed up really!

| But how do you know the patch is herpes? Did the doctor test it with a
culture? If no test was performed on this patch on your neck, you have no
way of knowing it is really herpes.
What is the cream he gave you?

I wanted to say that there is a condition called Gladatorium Herpes
which is a form of the herpes simplex typically hsv-1. This is called
Gladatorium because it is a form of simplex that sometimes is found on
wrestlers on their chest and neck from close contact. I am not saying
that you are a wrestler, but that it is a possible place to get
simplex. In fact you can pretty much get herpes anywhere on your body.
Generally speaking hsv-1 favors the facial area (lips, chin, nose and
sometimes cheeks or eyes). Hsv-2 tends to favor the "Boxer Short area"
from the belly button to half way down the thigh to the knee. You may
want to be certain that this is really herpes by talking to your
doctor.
