Pepsi=no headache vs Coke-headaches

| Coke gives me a headache almost every time. I believe it has
something to do with a difference in the caramel flavoring.
Anybody else notice this? Also I seem to notice a mold taste
occasionally when I try Coke.

| Hi, are you talking straight Coke or a diet variety? Coke does have a
taste all it's own; I prefer Pepsi, but don't drink any diet soda, it's
a trigger for me.

No diet anything for me. I rarely drink Coke but sometimes know I need
a sip. I always decarbonate any carbonated drinks which I usually only
have for sick tummy (ginger ale).
Hubby is allergic to Pepsi but can have Coke. I think Pepsi may have
cinammon in it.

I cannot tolerate diet drinks -- even a sip will give me a
migraine from the Aspartame.

I drink Coke, Dr. Pepper, or Mr. Pibb for migraine nausea --
NEVER Pepsi; it is sickeningly sweet to me and i can;t get
it down without wanting to gag.

Coke is more acidic and i like that. It has a lemony
aftertaste that i prefer to Pepsi's sticky "nothing" taste.
But Dr. Pepper is better than either, because it has a
cherry-prune taste i really enjoy.

| I can use a small amount of coke, pepsi or coffee to try to head off a
migraine that seems imminent. The news today said that the Coke made in
Mexico is made with cane juice as a sweetner vs. US Coke which is made
with high fructose corn suryp. Mold likes to live off of sugars and can
be found everywhere.
If you can't hand diet drinks with aspartame (nutrasweet), try the new
drinks with Splenda (Sucralose). Both Coke and Pepsi are currently
asverstising their low carb sodas. I've tried both, they are too sweet,
even though the carb count was supposed to be reduced my half.
Water is best for you. I just make sure it's not colored or flavored
with anything fake or unnecessay. And don't drink it ice cold, that's
too hard on your kidneys. Just drink room temp bottled water and an
occasional gatorade to maintain electrolytes.

It was the NON-diet I was speaking of. I KNOW water is best, but if
one must have a soft drink, I know I cannot tolerate coke.

| Jennie,
I have a severe problem with Red #40 dye. If I take in even a tiny bit of
it I get a bad migraine. As I have eliminated it from my diet over the last
several years I have found that there are some foods that will get me even
though there is not Red #40 listed in the ingredient list. The ones that
get me all have 'caramel' coloring in them yet there are many foods with
'caramel' coloring that do not bother me. The best I can figure is that
whatever is in a particular foods 'caramel' coloring is a crap shoot at
best. Coke, Pepsi and RC do not bother me at all. You may just have a
sensitivity to some chemical that is in one form of coloring over the other.
Good luck tracking it down.

| My husband says the same thing to me. I'm always drinking warm water. I'll
even drink out of a bottle that's been in a warm car for hours...doesn't
phase me, but I understand how some people can't stand it.
