Many of us are light sensitive. I am very nearsighted as well so when
I get up in the morning, I leave the lights off and shower in the
dark. I am blind enough without my glasses that it doesn't make much
difference anyway. I keep a pair of wraparound sunglasses in the
house, in the car, in my bag . . . I am never without them and pop
them on even inside.
Fluorescent lights can be nasty. You may need to play with monitor
settings in order to find colours that are easy on the eyes and
perhaps change the refesh rate.
