We need a moderated AD/HD newsgroup....
|
|
| In Through The Out Door 2005-12-29, 10:58 am |
| Even though one who has ADD/ADHD is quite busy with a thousand thoughts and
conflicts all at the same time, one thing that we do NOT need is a group
that has the same type of behavior going on. It's time to get a moderated
newsgroup where the specific topic of ADD and AD/HD can be discussed. With
this "open newsgroup" setting, the attention and purpose of the group gets
lost. What do the specific topics of "trauma", "legal chicanery" and
"slander" have to do with AD/HD unless it's directly related to one's own
challenges with AD/HD? These topics have been in no way discussed with any
kind of relation to the specific topic of ADD.
I have this group saved in my favorites as I want to learn what others do in
their own lives facing their own challenges with AD/HD. But instead what I
see is many different posts that have nothing to do with AD/HD. I've seen so
much slander that I'm surprised there's been no reported lawsuits and from
what I've seen and if I saw my name and address posted here with the intent
of harming my credibility (whether the author intends to impart factual
information or not), I would take immediate action! No one will openly
discuss topics related to AD/HD in this newsgroup because they are afraid
that they will be flamed by those who either don't believe AD/HD exists (of
which I am living proof that it does) or that someone will fill up the room
with hundreds of posts that are in no way related to the recovery of AD/HD
and leave out of sheer boredom.
If there is anyone here that is interested in starting a moderated newsgroup
specifically for AD/HD information, medication, therapy, coaching and
recovery, please feel free to e-mail me.
FELLOW AD/HR'ers AND FAMILY MEMBERS: LET'S GET OUT OF HERE AND CREATE A
PLACE ON USENET FOR US AND ONLY US!! STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHT AND PRIVILEGE
TO RECOVER SAFELY AND AUTONOMOUSLY!!!!

GoogleGroups provides for the easy creation of groups. You can create
one in minutes. Of course, you will be the moderator.

If you want it, write up the proposal and moderate it yourself. We're
ADDers. Organization is not our strong point.

This has been brought up many, many times in the years I've been in
this group (1995, I believe). It never happens, it isn't going to
happen, no one has the time, energy or attention (!!) it takes to
moderate a newsgroup. Never mind the fact that moderated newsgroups
don't seem to get anywhere.
Learn how to use a killfile, ignore threads, pick and choose what you
participate in - self moderation, so to speak. It works.

Is this a joke V? (If so, hehe -- very droll. If not, you have no
damn sense of irony.)

I always said,
If I saw my mental health professional posting
Madly the way Mark Morin did,
I would be frightened.
Yes,
Irony.
But Mark's in jail.
He used his real name.

But it's okay for *you* to post madly? That won't bother anybody?
Everything's fine here because it's *you* who fills this space with
off-topic raging? The OP was complaining about *you.* *You* have
overwhelmed this NG and turned it into a ghost town. I meant that it's
ironic to see *you* saying that things are fine here since some *other*
mentally ill megalomaniac quit overwhelming it.

http://groups.google.com/group/alt....n-deficit/about
You've posted 147 posts so far in December to ASAD through two nyms.
After you comes RL with 90. About 20% of total posts to this group
this month so far were yours.
Furthermore, they're not fun to read. This is pretty typical of the
stuff you post here very frequently that I think drives people away:
Mostly Virginia on puke:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt....rt=0&scoring=d&
Virginia on hating somebody's XXXXing guts:
http://groups.google.com/group/alt....rt=0&scoring=d&
And I realize this is your story and you're trying to heal yourself,
but in posting this kind of stuff to ASAD, I feel certain you drive
away many people who need help with ADHD issues, especially parents
with kids newly diagnosed. When I first showed up here asking for
advice, if I had had to wade through "I hate your XXXXing guts"
threads, or an elegy on puking, I probably would have moved on.
http://groups.google.com/group/alt....rt=0&scoring=d&
The very worst is when you crosspost and drag somebody in on your shoe
who delights in flaming you in profane and comical ways. You have
hijacked this group and turned it into your own personal sounding
board. It's very selfish.

Yep. It's like deja vu all over again.

Translation: ... not enough 'stimulants'.
Living life as if I am in the movie, 'Groundhog Day' is very
disenchanting for me.
... Stimulant medicine helps me to escape that feeling. Having a
sense that I am growing, maturing and developing is what keeps me
psychollogically addicted to stuff, most of all.
This feeling, once tasted, ... is very hard to 'give up'.
Sincerely,
RL

Sorry! -- I missed twitteringfolly. Adding the 28 from that nym,
you've posted 175 posts this month, which is 23% of total posts to this
group this month. RL posted 12%. After that comes Mark (7%) and Nancy
(6%).
