Question for those in UK

AFAIUI, if someone needs care because they have been diagnosed with
Alzheimers (or similar), the local authority should pay for the home and
thus there should be no need for the house sale.

I beleive the situation on that is changing in that it is much easier to get
the care paid now. certainly had no problem with my father, indeed the
enture team were pressing him to go into care when I thought that at the
start of the meeting it would be the opposite.
Plus, its up to the medical authorities to do the classification isnt it,
and not the local authority who would pay? I'm sure its not 100% but
fighting for payment cannot be worse than looking after an Az patient so its
doable.
